Okay then. I got a question. When the Mockingjay film is released?

Uh...part 1: November 21st 2014
Part 2: November 20th 2015

The Catching Fire ending was just as bad as DoS ending! *sob* Poor Peeta :'-(

Regarding the Peeta vs Gale thing, I really don't care. :p I love it for the plot, not the love story.

^^ Finally someone who likes Hunger Games cause of the plot, not cause of the love story.

I'll join. I prefer the films over the books.

I too don't care about the whole love triangle. I thought it was pointless, and the plot could have moved on nicely without it.

I think there's a bit of a trend with YA books now, especially since Twilight, that there has to be a love triangle and all the fans are supposed to be team whatever. It's annoying.

I think what disturbs me most about some of the fandom is those who say they want to be Katniss because they want Peeta. Just no. They're both emotionally, mentally and physically scarred from what they went through. They don't get a happily ever after; they're still dealing with the trauma every day even 20 years later. Which I do like because it's realistic but then some people don't see that.

The thing I like most about the Hunger Games? It show up how sick, twisted and despicable the human race can be. That the "good guys" can be just as awful as the "bad guys".

EDIT: Forgot what I was about to say. The whole thing with Gale felt like it was tacked in there after the publishers looked through it and went "it's a YA book! There has to be a love triangle and teenage angst otherwise it won't sell!". And the disheartening thing is, I don't think it would have done so well if there wasn't the love triangle, no matter how forced it is, because teenagers seem to like that. Which is just annoying.

You all can join :) yay! New members :)

I don't mind the love triangle...yes I'm a teen ;) but I agree, it would be fine without it. I don't think its the main focus of the story either.

Teenagers are at the stage where they don't regard the opposite gender as gross and annoying like they used to. I think that it part of reason why they like love stories/love triangles...and as long as the story remains clean, I don't see anything wrong with that. My issue is when that's all the story is about (not the case with HG) a story should have a real plot...not just the "who is the girl gonna choose" thing.
That probably doesn't sound as educated as it does in my mind  sorry...I'm not very good at typing my opinions, :teehee:
Who can't wait for the Mockingjay part 1 trailer?!?

As far as Mockingjay goes, I'm not all that excited. I really didn't enjoy the book.

Though, Jennifer Lawrence really does breath life into Katniss, and actually makes her almost likeable. Maybe she will create some spark in the plot, that bookKatniss failed to do.

I think that was what ruined the books for me. The love triangle, and Katniss herself. I really didn't like her as a character. Especially how she didn't really do all that much. All she really did was volenteer as tribute, and then pull out a handful of berries, yet everyone in Panem was so in awe of her, making so much of her. Treating her as some kind of hero, when really it was all the other characters that really fought the war.

I was drawn to some of the other characters like Haymitch, Johanna, Finnick, Rue, Prim, Cinna.

See, that's why I like Katniss. She didn't chose it, she didn't want to become this symbol to everybody. And she knew full well that she couldn't really do it. But she did try. Not for some ideal, not for the greater good of everybody, but to try to protect those she cared about.

But she's not my favourite character. Actually, I don't have a favourite character.

Yeah, I saw that side of it. But, with me, I'm very "show, not tell" about everything I read or write. For me to see a character as a hero, then show me why I should respect this character. The narrating character should be a hero for what they do, not because the story is told from their POV.

With each page, I kept thinking, okay, this chapter might be it. Maybe she will do something great. I felt that as the narrating character, she should have been in the thick of the planning. Actually get involved in all the fighting, rather than just be the figurehead.

When I watch the films, I like the fact that we are seeing other characters. What is happening away from her. Snow's planning. How Gale dealt with seeing the romance on the screen. Even Haymitch, to some degree in the first one. Rather than it be "OH NO!! A MASSIVE FIRE BALL IS COMING AT ME, RUN!" We see why it was started, and the reason behind it.

Haha I always feel bad for Gale :p

Rue... :'-( am I the only one who sobbed their eyes out when she died?

I haven't read Mockingjay yet...but I'm still freaking out about the ending of Catching Fire :p I have spoilers luckily...but still don't like to wait :teehee:

I cried my eyes out at Rue's death, both book and film. In the film, I knew it was coming, because I read the whole trilogy before watching the first movie.
