Wow. Aranel, that is so detailed. That is really great.

I might have some pieces to share. I have an important appointment today, and to pass the time while I'm waiting, I write drabbles in a notebook. I'll post them later tonight (hopefully.)

Hey, guys! (It's me, oh no!!) I'd love to join! (If that's okay?)

Jax, I read your bit about NaNoWriMo, and I agree, no novels in a month for me. But I use it more as a focusing technique. Like for this one month, I have to write at least a sentence a day, even if it doesn't go anywhere. I have a habit of putting things down for two months and forgetting about them after only one good week of writing, so it's helpful to me. :)

Aranel! Second person present tense. Very, very interesting. :) Like, some people can do it well, and some people can't. You seem to be doing very well, because I wasn't crazy distracted by it like I usually am. :)

Sure you can join! We'd love to have you. :D I've edit the member list and added your name.

Yes, I do word counts. Try to write so many words per day. I have a habbit of doing the same thing to a degree. I will typically get 2/3rds through a book and then dwindle off and my inspiration leaves for some reason. I wrote so much at forst I burn myself out I think. If I just manage 1k-2k words per day I won't burn myself out and sustain my writing longer before I run into ruts of my mind. Lol

I agree, I think you did quite well with it Aranel. It was kind of neat to read in that tense since it is not the most typical. It adds some freshness to it.

I keep getting an itch to work on my fan fic I've just wanted to write. I think I might start on it.

I guess I'll take my on advice and write on it for 5 minutes a day, as a good writer passed that helpful hint on to me.

Sounds good. :). You will have to be sure to share it with us once you have it done if you feel so inclined. :).

5 minutes a day is a good measure to reach for. It keeps you consistent and then if you have the time some days you can double it or such things.

Do you mind if I join? The only thing I write is fanfiction, but I did try a more original story when I was in college (unfortunately, I didn't save it, and it's been so long that I don't remember enough of it to even consider rewriting it), similar to Narnia, since when I was younger, my cousins (I have four, two of each gender) built some kind of fort in my grandmother's raspberry bushes (she doesn't have them any more), and I thought, what if that hole led to another world? We had to keep a journal when I was upgrading, and since I find writing about your day incredibly dull and dreary, I thought that I would make up a story instead. I even got something in the mail once to see if I was qualified to write children's books (I was, but the training was way beyond my price range, so I didn't go through with it). I'm still considering going through with my Jurassic Park fan fic, but I still don't know if it's a good idea (since it's similar to Jurassic Park 3, but my characters crash land on Isla Nublar instead of Isla Sorna, but in a helicopter, not an airplane. Another issue is that I have to kill off a character and find a way to make my surviving character, Rebecca Thomas, survive the crash instead of perish like her husband), so that's why I'm putting it off (if I'm unsure of something, I'll put it off until I am). :)

Welcome to the club, Marida! I'm sure Jax will add you, when he comes online.

Fanfiction is accepted. I've been very secretive with my original works, but open about fanfics.

That does sound interesting, what you mentioned about you and your cousins.

Welcome to the club Marida! Sure you can join. :D

Fanfictions are great and even if it is similar to something else that is the good thing about fan ficiton.... it can be similar and no worries since it's FF. :)

Look forward to reading any of your work you feel like sharing.

Your fort in the raspberry bushes does sound pretty neat. Reminds me of my siblings and I who built a fort in a plum thicket. Though I didn't write a book about it I was writing during that time. I had tons of original story ideas that I never finished through with. lol

Thanks for the heads-up (and adding me to the list). I'll be posting the fan fic on both FF.net (thinking of using this cover image: http://i60.tinypic.com/i6fh2p.jpg) and Ao3. I'll see if I can type up a small excerpt tonight (be warned, it's the most intense scene, since it's the actual crash landing, just have to figure out how to make Rebecca survive; perhaps install an injector seat that her husband pulls just moments before they crash). The picture is the ruins of the original Jurassic Park gate, which is the site of the crash (or close enough to it that Rebecca can partly make it out), since I'm thinking about setting it about six years after the Jurassic Park fiasco. :)

Cool. ;) Happy writing!

I like the picture. I am actually not terribly up on the Jerasic park movies. I think I saw 1 and 4 or 1 and 3.... can't remember but it sounds like a fun read!

I am not on FF.net or Ao3 but I certainly would follow a link if you drop one in a comment to your work.

Post subject:  Re: ~~The Writing Club~~

I've discovered a great tip, that I just have to share with everyone.

I got one of those academic diaries, to use for classes, appointments, etc. It has the dates and times in it. Well, I decided to use it to track the time line of my plot, but mark beside it whether the times with content are day or night. For example, say I write this;

Quote:
9:00 | Character A goes to the store, her friend Character B sees her
9:30 | they talk about old times and decided to go to a coffee shop.

Because that happened in the morning I wrote "morning" vertically in the margin.

But if I want something off focus to be happening at the same time, in a different colour ink, I write at the same time slot at the bottom of the page, what other characters are doing that the main character wouldn't see, and mark that too.

Also the parts that aren't needed plot wise can be used to track the antagonists's movements.

It is a great way to track the time line, but also what all key characters are doing both on and off focus.

Cool. Neat Idea Erin!

I used to write down times and such but never got quite that organized. :P I am sure it would be helpful!
