OMG that sounds like epic tale Erin. I love those kind of stories.

I'm not sure how I could help s you seem to have everything set and your concept rocks. I would say leave it open for both characters. Write the battle which will be great but leave it open just in case you won't to use them again or inspire others. Tolkien did this with his notes, in fact I'm told by someone close to me about a fic in which Aragorn is hunting Gollum and the Nazgûl poisoning his mind to stop him from finding Gollum.

I always love open stories. Although I'm a happy ending with everyone off into the sunset kinda guy but I guess that is because all my favorite characters in most of my fandoms tend to be killed. However, when they are killed it can be undone with better writing (IE fanfics)

The summary sounds great and I can not wait to read it.

I don't think I can leave it open. Because the good side would know. It is complicated.

I really do need to choose one end. I don't want to leave it all sloppy written. It really is important that I write this story. I'm writing it for a youth group of differently abled people. All of them feel sad that they don't have a hero to relate to, because heros in books are always perfect and able bodied. Through all the main good characters, none of them are what media deems beautiful. Some have physical problems, or mental issues. Others are more characters who haven't always made the right choices.

It will get printed off into a booklet and distributed between them.

So I really do need an ending that won't be open, and the right choice.

Neat sight Marida. I would love a sight like that if I had time to write fan fics and stuff anymore.

Erin. Sounds like a neat idea. The only thing I might come up with is maybe he dies but he is "in" the story through a series of journals or records he has written and the "former lacky" or whoever you bring in follows these writings to accomplish their task. *shrugs* That's all I've got.

I see your point about one dimensional heroes as they are all goody two-shoes with no depth. Heroes are supposed to be people we relate too as we are human and not perfect. No person is 100% good or 100% bad. A lot of people involved in my other fandoms have been discussing this recently and I think we are now all realizing what a hero is.

I love this idea and I hope you let us all read the story. I also like Jax's idea of leaving journals for a new generation to take one. I like the idea of the good winning and getting a reunion.

You may not like this idea but let's say in a battle between this good and evil that they both kill each other at the same time.

Evil watches the good leave but is shocked as evil is always shocked when good comes. (Think of the orcs when the Rohan army does not back down in ROTK) and good gets revenge and knowledge knowing no one will suffer and smiles knowing about the reuniting on the other side. And the journals could also be a two street for evil and good to take on as they both could leave behind journals and someone will find and that will set up if you so chose to continue such a series.

@Thranduil: You're right, I don't like that idea at all. That suggestion sounds like a complete bloodbath of a fight, and I know would upset a few of the kids who will read it. I wouldn't even want to try to write something like that. Especially a bunch of characters, where it is important that they live. Choosing that ending is like saying, "Here kids, here is a bunch of differently abled heroes for you to like and relate to, who BTW get slaughtered in the last chapter." In a way, I'm glad this option was suggested, so I know it doesn't work.

@Jax: This idea you come up with, that does seem an intreguing. In a way. Most of her other lackies are pretty loyal to her. Only this one would be able to turn against her. I don't know how he could have the journal and the alpha bad not know about it. I guess it is an option. If I do choose to kill him.

*nods* either way I am sure you will come up with the right plot and when you do it will click! :)

It is hard though. The way ideas are coming, this might end up being like a real The Never Ending story.

Lol well, if I think of any other suggestions I will let you know.

Personally I probably would not kill him off unless you feel the character is done. It is easy to cut him out later on but harder to add him back in if you meed him.

That is true. There is potential for him.

I just played the coolest writing game. Basically, come up with a word prompt. Such as an ordinary item. Then write a drabble about it, totalling only 100 words. I found it so much fun writing a drabble from the perspective of an eraser.

Haha! That does sound like a lot of fun! I am going to have to try that. Maybe we could do a mini one here on the forum that would be cool!

Post subject:  Re: ~~The Writing Club~~

Yeah, that would be great! Giving a prompt, and everyone write their own interpritation.

Post subject:  Re: ~~The Writing Club~~

Yes, that would be fun!

Should we just do it here or start it's own thread so anyone (even outside the writing club) can join in?

Post subject:  Re: ~~The Writing Club~~

I think we should keep it in the club. We are a writing club after all.

Sounds good to me, and yes, (W)right you are. ;)

So would you like to do the honors of picking the forst prompt?

Post subject:  Re: ~~The Writing Club~~

I would be honoured! In the spirit of inanimate objects, I am going to choose a cup. Mostly because it will be interesting.

The rules are, it has to be from the perspective of a cup. In either first or third person, and total 100 words. Easy for people who have a word program or an online word counter. Even though the latter sucks, because they include punctuation.

Contractives such as "don't" and "can't", etc, count as one word, just don't spam them to get more words in the drabble.

Another thought occured to me. We could make a in club contest out of it. I will make the prize of an icon.

Neat idea (since we do a similar thing on Council of Elrond on a Writers thread, located in the off topic section), but since I can't role play as a cup, I'll wait for the next prompt (I can do people or animals, but not inanimate objects, sorry). I usually write in third or second person (though only for drabbles based on imagines on tumblr), rarely in first person, just so you know. :)
