Aye, that he does. Shakespere ain't got nothing on Tolkien, THE word master.

Shakespeare and Tolkien were both equally talented. Both were respected in their times. They wrote excellent literature, and for that, they deserve our respect.

I agree 100 percent!!! Shakespere sounds fancy, but his stuff is meaningless, in my opinion. Tolkien is sooooo much more talented. Plus, he goes soooo in depth with everything he does... are there any other authors out there who have created complete languages (like Sindarin and Quenya, particularly)??

YOU ROCK TOLKIEN!!!! :)

Even if in your opinion, Tolkien was better, Shakespeare should still be appreciated. He wrote wonderful plays.

I suppose I over did it a bit comparing the two. But Tolkien I think is a bit better, and I have read both.

Yes, I know. I kind of exaggerated there. I still respect Shakespeare for all of his great works, but I just am sooo obsessed with Tolkien and his works that I can't help but put it that way. :)

Shakespeare is alright. He's a good writer, despite the fact that I can bearly read what he writes.
Tolkien is the awesomest!

Shakespeare came from a very different time then Tolkien, and English was spoken differently, so many people find it hard to understand. Tolkien writes in a difficult way, too, however. (Anyone get that?)

Shakespeare and Tolkien both have a special place in my heart. They both like complicated plots and have a great sense of drama. You have to read S. for a while to get used to him, but he has quite a sense of humor! Tolkien did a whole lot of background research and was quite a master of fantastical descriptions!

I see what you mean. A hundred years from now, people will probably think that the way we speak today is difficult to understand. The people of that time probably saw Shakespeare as we see Tolkien- a bit difficult, but very talented and unique.

Tolkien holds my heart not only because he's a matvellous writer, (which he is of course) but also because of the sheer immensity of his work. I mean really - he created Middle-Earth, all its people, their customs, languages, style of music, histories, heros, Kings, legends, their lands and homes- he's covered everything from Iluvatar creating middle-earth to after King Elessar's death. his sheer imagination is astounding. and as an added bonus, it's fantasy. HIGH fantasy. and i ADORE fantasy. that's why Tolkien . . . .
ROCKS MY KNEE-HIGH-RAINBOW-STRIPY-SOCKS!

^*Agrees too*

Tolkien did a really good job. A lot of times when people creat worlds, it just doesn't feel right. Something is missing. Tolkien did the best job ever.
