Hey, in RotK, did any of you read the part where Gimli and Eomer get into a fight over the elven girls? Well, not a fight, but they were talking of it.
Eomer asked Gimli if he had his axe, ang Gmli said he could fetch it. Eomer then said that he though Arwen was much more beautiful than Galadriel. Gimli gets all huffy. Eomer then says that if he had seen Galadriel alone, he would have thought her the most beatiful. Eomer asks if he must fetch his sword, but Gimli says No, for you have chosen the night, and I have chosen the morning, which will soon be gone. Or somthing along those lines.
My first though to this was Does Eomer have a death wish? Gimli has a huge crush on Galadriel.
My second thought was Does Eomer have a death wish? Does Aragornknow what Eomer is saying about Arwen? He better watch out.
For me, this was very funny. I laughed really hard, because the first time I read it, i must have missed that part. Soo, care to comment?! :-D

Death Wish??? I think not. Eomer and Gimli have such respect for each other, that they would not have come to blows. It is possible to love another woman who is not your own, with as much devotion as a mate, and not mean anything untoward. Eomer is honorable, and chivalrous and is as a brother to Aragorn. I feel there is no way Aragorn would take any offense to Eomer's words, knowing full well the meaning. I did however see the humor in the situations.

They were just joking around! It's so hilarious and cute!! They always said they needed comic relief in the movie so why didn't they put THAT in instead of making up their own?! It should have been in the movie! Grrrrrrrrrrr...

I did however see the humor in the situations. i totally agree. eomer would never mingle with a women whom someone who is to him like a brother loves. and even if he had sad that he thinks that arwen is more beautiful, that doesn't have to mean that he loves her in that particularry way.

The interesting thing is, I remember there being a section in one of the History of middle earth books, where beren fights the leader of the dwarf raiding party that attacked Doriath. Basically Beren won only by the narrowest of margins cos th edwarf tripped over. Which does set a dangerous precedent for Eomer I think that Eomer was just saying that he thought arwen was more nice in his opinion, and Gimli, being the quality guy he is, respected his opinion. But I would have found it hilarious if Gimli had said " ok, get your sword out. Im really gonna have to kill you now!" that fight would be pretty close I think. The Lamenter

That was really funny! I told my friend it would be really cool if they put that into the movies! Poor Galadrial, can you imagine some creepy dwarf being sweet on you?

He is so enchanted by the Lady Galadriel that he is willing to defend her with his life, as is Eomer about Arwen. This has to be one of my favorite parts in RotK. I wish it had been in the movie... maybe in the Return of the Ring RP that's going to happen...
