Well i'm personally still convinced that couple wise Eowyn would have made a better wife for Aragorn, she was truly in love with him, but at the end of the day Arwen chose to become mortal in order to spend a lifetime with Aragorn which proves how much she loves him, and the fact that he told Eowyn that he was in love with Arwen instead of swanning off with her proves how much he loves Arwen. I believe that the two of them were meant to be together and i was really happy when they got married, but i still believe that Eowyn may have made a better match...It just goes to show that opposites attract :)
Plus Viggo Mortensern as Aragorn is absolutley gorgeous! There's no way you can call his long hair. It makes him rugged and makes him ever better looking!
:)

yep we have the same joining day.. awesome! and Frodos-guide, (I like your name, and welcome, you're a newbie :D) I think Eowyn wouldn't make a better match for Aragorn. they are both the race of men, yes, but Aragorn was raised like an elf by Elrond.. and, I think (no offense for Eowyn fans) that Arwen is far more beautiful and elegant :D

..just my opinion.. :swoon:

I think that Arwen and Aragorn are the best match. Not necessarily because Arwen is more beautiful/elegant (although I agree with that too), but to reiterate, because they were made for each other. Eowyn has Faramir. She and he were destined to be together.
No. I belive it is best as Tolkien wrote it. Arwen/Aragorn. Eowyn/Faramir.

Eowyn's love was not real love it was hero worship. It even says so in the book, but I can't find the place.

I don't know about that. I mean, yes, I think she did just fall in love with him on a kind of spurr of the moment thing. But for herself, she truly believed that she was deeply in love with him, and it tore her apart. I think that she desrves some credit for the pain that she went through. Even if she didn't love Aragorn as much as Arwen did, she thought that she did, she suffered like she did. I feel a lot of empathy for Eowyn in her situation. I know exactly what she feels. and it's not pleasant. At all. so don't seell Eowyn so short. I'm just glad that she ended up happy in the end.

I think it was a triangle drama: Arwen loves Aragorn, Eowyn loves Aragorn, and Aragorn loves Arwen. So, Eowyn just had to cope with her destiny, that Aragorn is meant to be with another one (go Arwen!!). Eowyn is kind of a boyish warrior girl from the people of horses, Arwen is just opposite, she is an elf, she loves the nature (I'm not saying Eowyn doesn't), and she's very feminine, altogether now very.. experienced, mature, while Eowyn is a young woman who has lots to learn and who's just starting to grow up. That's my point of view.

I think that's a good point. Arwen was much more mature, she had lived a lot longer, than Eowyn. However, we have to remember that Aragorn wasn't exactly a spring chicken. He had a prolonged life because he was one of the Dunedain, but he was....... somewhere between 60 and 80 *drats self for not remembering* during the War of the Ring. So I think He may be a better match for Arwen there.

Yes certainly, but I don't believe that means she was necessarily a better mate for Aragorn or that she should have married him. Her love for Aragorn caused her grief and pain but it passed away and I believe her love for Faramir was much deeper because she loved him not an image of him.

That was absolutely the case. I'm not saying that Arwen is not the better match for Aragorn. I'm for Arwen/Aragorn all the way. But I feel sympathy for Eowyn. I felt sorry for her. I was happy that she found Faramir. I think those two go as well together as Arwen and Aragorn. Don't mistake me! ;)

Oh, you didn't make the original Eowyn should have married Aragorn post! Oops. :) Guess I mis-read that one.

what's a spring chicken? and I agree that Eowyn loved an image of Aragorn, not the man. And Faramir is quite young, so he fits for Eowyn :D

 "He's no spring chicken" is a phrase used to say that he's not too young. Old, you might say. It's not very widely used any more. I don't know why I used it. you made me laugh though. "What's a spring chicken?" LOL.
By the way Firiel, it's no big deal. :) And Telpeath was the one who first made this post. He wasn't saying that Aragorn should marry Eowyn. He was saying that Arwen should marry him, Telpeath. :P But now he hath seen the error of his ways, and so he is forgiven. He's actually quite a decent fellow. And I'm using unusual phrases lately. Please excuse that. :)
Yes. Once and for all. Eowyn+Faramir. Arwen+Aragorn. It equals perfection.

No, no I didn't mean Telpeath either. :D I knew he had changed his mind. I meant Frodos-guide. I got the two of you mixed up for some reason.
