I have to agree with ya all. They were simply meant to be together and it was their fate to be mortal and to live together and all..

I think they are my second fav couple. Aragorn is hot, okay! Arwen is a lucky woman! I'm sure he'll make time for his wife/queen, because he really loves her. The 4th age was supposably suppose to be more peacefull then the 3rd. I pretty much assume. Aragorn has man years to live with her as he rebuilds & expands Gondor. Arwen will probably help too. She's not gonna sit at home take care of children and that's it is she? Well...I wouldn't.

Taurquende, (sigh) I guess we all do. I am deeply sorry that I havent responded to the posts like I usually do....just got out of school and patching up the loose ends of life. Aduial-Galad, thank you for standing up for me when I was absent. Really, Aragorn is good, and I know he will do a better job caring for her in the fourth age, yet I wonder. eowynfaramir4eva, I think it is the other way around: Arwen is hot, and Aragorn is Lucky!! But I guess your way works too!!

Aragorn and Arwen belong with each other. Tolkien made it so. A lesson I learned along time ago is that the movies are never the same as the books. Also I believe that Aragorn is also related to Luthien through 66-70 generations or something like that.

Love will, in the end, overpower all evil therefor it is powrfull and dangerous but not in a way that you must avoid it. Aragorn is a man who would love Arwen untill the end and he did. They were a great couple yet being a girl I do not undersatnd your love of Arwen. And yes it is sort of comparable to the story of beauty and the beast. (except for the beast in that tale isn't hot like Aragorn  )

I personally think that Arwen and Aragorn are a great couple and when Aragorn does clean himself up (in my opinion he shouldn't :P ) he looks pretty dashing. There is clearly a love between them and if they weren't in love so whole-heartedly Arwen would have gone across the sea where her love for Aragorn could be "evergreen."

That's my view on things, I'm not saying it's right but that's just how I see it.

Lady Karina , the reason, which I stated earlier in the forum, I love that part of the scene. I dont approve of the marriage, much like Elrond: Except he didnt want Arwen to see Aragorn at all...Im a bit more lenient. However, I encourage her love and thats what matters. The picture was picked because although there were elements against them being together, love proved to be dominant. So, eternal love works, whether I appove of the marriage or not.

Post subject:  A worthy lover...

I think we should remember that Aragorn was not just some vagrant, unschooled, unkept ranger. Being schooled by the Elf-lords, the youthful Estel would have had perhaps the best education in letters, arts, and arms of all the Edain, the Elf-Friends of his generation. He knew ancient history from eye-witness accounts! Being groomed since childhood by the Wise to a assume the role he would undertake in adulthood as the heir of Elendil and the hope of all the free peoples of Middle-earth, he was not at all just what he appeared to be as Strider.

He knew intimately all three bearers of the Elven rings of Power. Elrond and Galadriel were members of his foster-family and Gandalf was his friend and mentor. Aragorn had complete knowledge of his doom and his duty. He was no shirker who feared his fate. He was the exiled King pursuing with all his strength, wisdom and moral character to end the reign of evil and, by doing so, regain the throne of his forefathers.

A worthy lover for such an elf princess as Arwen—don’t you think?

Sinbearer, great point, and one that it's easy to forget about. :)

Yes, very good point, Sinbearer. I also think that they were truly meant to be together, just as Beren and Luthien were. Although he was mortal, he was also sooooo much more, like some of the points you covered, Sinbearer. He wasn't just any mortal, but the heir to the throne of Gondor and to Isildur. While that perhaps isn't much compared to Arwen Undomiel, as said in the RotK appendix, Arwen loved him. They were destined to be together.

Sinbearer, all I can say is wow. The way you said that really made me think. I got out some info on Aragorn and you are right on the nose. I guess he would be suitable for her. Thank you. He wasnt just any man but one trained with the knowledge and strength of the elves.

Very good points about Aragorn.
So we've decided that Aragorn is a suitable match for Arwen, but is Arwen a suitable match for King Elessar?
Tolkien doesn't mention a lot about Arwen and her status. She is the daughter of the Lord of Rivendell but she is not high elven. I guess she is practically Elven royalty but for some reason I never saw her as a princess...
