^Well, she certainly didn't flaunt her status about. Both being near royalty [or actual royalty in Aragorn's case] I think helped formed their relationship. The thing is, we never hear much about Arwen's thoughts and feelings for Aragorn in the books. We only know that she loved him so much and believed in him so intently that she gave up her immortality. That says a lot right there I guess.

Maybe it would have been different before now, but I was reading the Tale of Aragorn and Arwen in the appendices last night and I was crying uncontrollably for a while afterwards, so I have to say OF COURSE IT WAS PERFECT (their marriage I mean!).

I don't think Elrond is an overprotective father. Think about what it would mean for him when Arwen chose to become mortal. She should have lived with him in Valinor for eternity--To be seperated from your daughter forever, not knowing if she has died yet or not (depending on Aragorn's life span). But even he would allow her to marry no mortal less than king of both Gondor and Arnor, which is who Aragorn is.

But do we atually know so much of Elven Royalty in general? Being born a noble lady doesn't necessary make one a noble person... it has to come from within, I don't believe it only lies in the blood... hmm.. odd thoughts, I can't really word them at the moment...

I agree.... I couldn't picture Arwen as being a princess either. Besides she looks more like a Lady then a princess.

^Well, PJ made her tougher, in some way I think he pictured her of more like a modern woman or a warrior princess (perhaps he did so for his modern audience), but I think Tolkien might have thought her to me more like an inspiration for Aragorn - or a deeper motivation - to achieve his goal to defeat Sauron and become King.

well, I think they are a perfect couple. But I do understand your feelings; I love Orlando Bloom, but he's having an on-off relationship with Kate Bosworth. I just have to face the truth and daydream about him ;)

This is for Telpeath, hope you read it: What's it to do with fitting with each other? They LOVE each other and that's what really matters. The good thing about your love (?) toward Arwen is this: She doesn't live in our world, but in Middle-Earth. You can always have her, in your mind, though. She can never betray, or be unloyal to you. As long as you are loyal to her.. So, if my advice made any sense to you, get the grip, and love her from the bottom of your soul!! :)

and btw I like Arwen too, she's one of my favourite characters.

^*Falls off Chair Laughing* Yeh, I know! But I can pretend!!!!

Wow, I thought this conversation was dead, but guess not! LOL. Since this post was "not important" I did some research on Lady Arwen, and King Elessar. This help to conceve that Arwen and Aragorn are a Perfect match. Remember that Lady Arwen is a decendent of Luthien (Think thats how you spell it), and Aragorn of Berein. The love story of Luthien and Berien was immortal! The connection they had was binding, love immortal! So, following their great ancestors fate, the Love between Aragorn and Arwen is infinite!

Well, Ea is right. PJ wanted Arwen to be more of a charactor, since she is barely referenced in the books. But also lets take Eowyn for example. She was a princess, in a way, and was a warrior. Like it or not, I think that is what made them great princesses.

You shouldn't insult Aragorn's hair.

I personally think Viggo & Aragon are Hot!!

Arwen and Aragorn are the fairy tale couple. P-E-R-F-E-C-T

I do object to the shortness of the cerimony!!!
He grabs, her kisses her and that's it :annoyed2: they're married ~:That Stinks:~

In the book they got married and it lasted like a day. (?) and they just kiss and they're married. bit lame, but they couldn't put half an hour of weddings

I personally love the pairing. Aragorn's hair is beautiful! I love Aragorn with all my heart and think that they were made for each other!

Well, I would have liked to see a long wedding, more of an elvish wedding. I think it would have been a time to test the actors "elvish" speaking ability!

I agree. That would have been very cool to see (how elves get married and such) I don't think when they kiss it's supposed to mean that they get married there, but we're just supposed to know. I don't know. She kind of resumes position as queen right after.

Umm.. did I write that?
I know I remember thinking of wording it that way, but I think I decided against it, because I gave up on the difference between a Lady and a Princess. When I think princess, I think the classical stereotyped Princess-caught-in-a-tower-guarded-by-a-dragon (yup, the Fiona-type of Princess from Shrek!!) but technically a princess is simply a daughter of a king.

Lady Ella you have a very straight-forward way of expressing yourself. Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinions, and we would love to discuss everyone's views here, but perhaps you could try to add a little bit about how and why you think that. Then others would be more likely to discuss your opinions with you.
Just a friendly piece of advice that could hopefully help you enjoying the forum more.

I remember the first time I saw FotR, I thought it was a pretty cool movie - but the first time I saw Arwen, I thought it was a REALLY cool movie! And then of course my cousin spoiled it by telling me she's not in the books much. Darn. I was waiting for more of Arwen all through the rest of FotR, and she never came until TTT...and not much of her! She was always one of my very favorites - SO typical of me, I always love the princessy people!
