That's kinda the impression I got, glad I was correct :) As you know I'm W/E...and I'm having trouble not being mad about those moments, but you know, I'll get over it.

Well, believe it or not, I really liked Beckett's line, "A marriage interrupted? Or fate intervenes?" A lot of J/E shippers use that as fate intervening to break Will and Elizabeth up (so that Jack can get with her), but I think fate intervened because they weren't ready yet. As I said in my other post, I don't think their relationship was mature enough yet. If it's all puppy love and butterflies up until the marriage, when their first conflict comes (and it will), I don't think they'd be able to weather it. Will might, as he's a bit more of a realist, but Elizabeth has a very set notion (based on books) of what a relationship should be, and as is evidenced by her actions in DMC, it confuses her when things go 'wrong.' So I think they needed to go through this darker time together where everything isn't crystal-clear before they can truly enjoy the benefits of marriage. You can't appreciate the light until you've been through the dark.

My description of the whole W/E J/E situation is that Jack is a 'bleep on the W/E radar' and that this mishap will make them stronger in the end, which is basically what you were saying. The thing is, though - Elizabeth feels horribly guilty and unsure of herself and Will feels uncertain about their relationship, so if they don't reconcile those things with each other it'll be a lot harder. So I hope that happens :P

Meldawen, I have a hard time not being mad at the J/E moments as well.

What are your top 3 favorite scenes in Potc DMC? Mine are the scene where Will yells something about "I'm supposed to believe that you did this out of compassin?!", the one where Elizabeth threatens Norrington, and the one where the scene where Jack runs around with the fruit pole (). Wow, I manged to not only name 2 scenes that didn't revolve around Will but 2 scenes without him that I do love. That's very very very good for me. :-D
Well, what are yours?

[Will is thrown below deck]
Random crewmember: "You had it easy, boy!"
Bootstrap: [throws Will his vest] "The bo'sun prides himself in cleaving flesh from bone...with every strike."
Will: "And I am to understand that what you did was an act of compassion?"
Bootstrap: "...Yes."

Sad how I can remember that, aye? :teehee: But yeah, also one of my favorites scenes, though for me it starts all the way back at when Bootstrap realizes who Will is, the whole whipping, and all the way through the above-quoted scene. As for my other favorites...*thinks* Definitely the whole ending (yes, I'm cheating and calling it one scene), from the kiss to Barbossa's amazing entrance. Other than that...probably the three-way fight on Isla Cruces. Gots some mad Norrington action there :D But I have a whole lot more favorite lines and such, so I could never really choose. The main one for me is anything with Will and Bootstrap...actually, anything with Bootstrap. :D

I love the scene where Elizabeth's in prison - I think it goes (if I recall correctly):

Will: Tortuga. I'll start there, and I won't stop searching until I find him. And then I intend to return here, to marry you.
Elizabeth: Properly?
Will: Eagerly, if you'll still have me
Elizabeth: I'd have you now if it weren't for these bars...

It's so sweet :) I also love their kiss when they reunite (I forget where it is) and boy, I have to pick a scene not involving both of them....like you guys were saying, I like the Will/Bootstrap scene, and I felt so sorry for Bootstrap having to do that to him.

I love the scene where Davy Jones plays the organ, and when he smokes and blows it out of the tubey thing, and when they summon the kraken, and basically anything involving Davy :D

3-Way battle, my absolute favorite! It was the one scene with a little sunlight. :P

But, honestly, it was absolutely hillarious. Some people didn't like Elizabeth in that scene but I thought her lines were really funny. Just all of this action and criss-crossing plotlines: stealing the chest, the fight, etc...it was lots of fun to watch. :)

That scene is awesome, although Elizabeth did get annoying in a funny sort of way.

^Yeah, I thought she was slightly annoying... but at least she wasn't being a major jerk like she was in other parts.

^Hear, hear! My friend saw the movie for the first time the other day. She's not a fan, but her impression was that Elizabeth mostly pouts the whole movie. Some of it is understandable, but it does get tiresome after a while!

Elizabeth needs to die. The only problem is, she can't, because then Will would be sad... and Will must be happy at all costs.

I think Will is the biggest hole in the J/E case. Because if Jack and Elizabeth sail off into the sunset - what happens to Will? We've only ever seen him as a blacksmith's apprentice who's completely enamored with Elizabeth, and if she's with Jack, what's he going to do? It would be really lame for him to go back to being a blacksmith, and way too dark for him to become Davy Jones, so unless the writers have come up with some ingenious plot to keep Will happy and have a J/E ending - I really don't see how it could work. Actually, if they have come up with a way, I might not be too appalled at a J/E ending.

However, Will/Strumpets is where I draw the line.

Will. and. Elizabeth. will. be. married.

No question. If they're not, my obsession shall be terminated. The only way I'd be happy otherwise is if Will finds someone way better than Elizabeth and ends up happier than he would have been with Elizabeth.
