So, the script for the Artemis movie has been finished (it's by Stuart Beattie), from info I can find, but everything else is very hush-hush. From sketchy information I found, Halle Berry and Winona Ryder have been considered for Holly Short (AAHHH! Wrong, both of them!); Jason Statham has been considered for Butler (I guess he's okay, but he looks too young); Timothy Olyphant has been considered for Foaly (maybe...). Eoin Colfer has said that Catherine Zeta Jones would make a brilliant Opal Koboi, and I actually agree, but I don't know if they're filming Arctic Incident or Opal Deception yet. The biggest AAAAHHHH, for me, is that Tom Felton has been considered for Artemis! NOOO! Nothing's been finalized that I know of yet, but that scares me because he is WRONG...I think Aidan Mitchell has been considered as well, which is better than Tom Felton but still not quite right. I can't find many more facts than that. Except that Colfer wants to cameo as a goblin. Me too, Eoin. EDIT: Alyson Hannigan has been connected with the Holly role (http://www.hanniganfans.com/indexpic.jpg) and so has Cameron Diaz but I think it's been confirmed that Diaz will not get the role. Apparently all the fairies will be played by Americans. |

Ooh, Draco-Artemis ^_^ That's amusing  At least we already know that he could pull off an uncaring, rather bratty attitude, but maybe he's a little too evil!
Eh, I haven't read the books in ages, so I don't really know what I'm talking about. Don't mind me! |

OMG are they making a movie of it? But it sounds like its going to be a disaster if they cast all those people. Hmmm. We'll just have to wait and see. |

I suppose Aidan Mitchell would be okay if he looked older. I never think of Artemis that young. I think it's been denied that Winona Ryder will play Holly, so that's good. Some people wanted KEIRA KNIGHTLEY to play Holly! AAAH! I'm not a Keira fan, so this might just be me being judgemental, but I think she would make a horrible Holly. |

Holly is short(as her last name implies) so how are they going to get those actresses to look short? They should have a teen play her, someone who is a stockier build... |

I assume they'll do it the same way they made the hobbits look short. I've heard a rumor about Emily Browning being considered (A Series of Unfortunate Events) but nothing else yet, and she's rather young-looking. |

i guess they could do it like they did the Hobbits, but it wouldnt be the same because they're always moving and changing positions fast ect. i dont think it would work |

TOM WOULD BE A GREAT ARTEMIS! I don't care what u guys think, but he's a WAY better Artemis than I imagined, now considering it. The other casting?  Not so great

I think Timothy Olyphant is not quite right, but I would like it if Alyson Hannigan were Holly. I would totally hate Tom Felton as Artemis, though! Besides, he's too old... |

Agh, why didn't I see this thread before, I'm Arty Fowl obsessive! None of those actor choices sound right to me, none of them fit with how I see the characters at all... |

Now, if they made the Artemis Fowl movie in 2000 or something, I could believe Tom Felton could pull it off but now he's simply TOO old to play Artemis. |

Yeah, what is he, eighteen? They should really find anolder-looking ten-year-old, because by the time they actually started and finished filming, he would look right. I think I'll probably be okay with whatever they do (unless, of course, they use Tom Felton or Cameron Diaz)...Holly should really have darker skin, though. |

What about Eva Longoria as Holly? Or is she simply too pretty? Artemis Fowl is a REALLY tough person to cast. |

I don't think she would work very well. I picture Holly as attractive in her own way, but not THAT pretty You're right, Arty's difficult. They were going to have Nicholas Hoult play him but production was delayed and he got too old. Which was a pity, he seemed like he would be a good Artemis.
