I was just wondering if anyone has seen the 2006 BBC robin hood series? They just started playing it on BBC America, and it is soooooo awesome. I mean it's just Brilliant. It's kind of like the original Robin Hood.....but not. It's totally cool!

I saw it on BBC, its great, despite the fact the storyline seems to repeat itslef in a way, as in they get captured, then escape, then get captured again, its still very good though

Sadly, I have already seen this series. I actually stopped watching it 2 epsiodes from the end. I was extremely disappointed with the stories, the acting and everything about it. For the BBC it was an extremely poor shot at trying to get more people interested in the tale of Robin Hood. Even the rather lovely Richard Armitage began to look tired, as his character never had anything really good to do, and he was always outsmarted by the 21st century Robin Hood who looked more like a pop singer than a soldier. Typical Saturday night "entertainment" for the UK. Thank God we get some respite with Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Haha that's true! Legolas is much better. But if you had a big enough blade as an arrow tip, you could certainly chop a rope in half. Especially if the rope was tightened so it would stress and snap when you shot it.*shrug*

I'm rather conflicted on this show. On one hand its a facetious and repetative. On the other hand it has Richard Armitage and Jonas Armstrong (Pop star or not, he's one hot bowman! )
Its a show that I don't make an effort to watch, but I will if I'm bored. Watching gorgeous guys with bows is a good way to waste part of the day

I think I like it. That is, I loved the first 2 episodes. I've only seen 4 so far, as of this evening - although I'm feeling a bit disillusioned because I felt it as unecessarily dark... and rather violent. It seemed just a bit out of keeping, almost. Personally, I'm very happy to watch something that is light entertainment - humorous, semi-modern (it reminds me a bit of A Knight's Tale in places) and family-viewing. I watch it with my family, and I'd rather not feel sorry for my younger sister if she's not allowed to watch because something is more highly rated.
It's also apparent I know absolutely nothing about Robin Hood, except what I picked up reading the little kid's picture book Peepo (it's the only reference to him I can think of, asides from Shrek, that is) which mentions... I think his name? So with that in mind, I don't have any expectations that need to be met, and I didn't find aspects predictable because I didn't know what his friends were called or who Marian was or anything...
So yes, provided it doesn't turn really dark and violent, I'm definately enjoying it.
