I was just wondering if anyone has seen the 2006 BBC robin hood series? They just started playing it on BBC America, and it is soooooo awesome. I mean it's just Brilliant. It's kind of like the original Robin Hood.....but not. It's totally cool! :)

I saw it on BBC, its great, despite the fact the storyline seems to repeat itslef in a way, as in they get captured, then escape, then get captured again, its still very good though :)

Sadly, I have already seen this series. I actually stopped watching it 2 epsiodes from the end. I was extremely disappointed with the stories, the acting and everything about it. For the BBC it was an extremely poor shot at trying to get more people interested in the tale of Robin Hood. Even the rather lovely Richard Armitage began to look tired, as his character never had anything really good to do, and he was always outsmarted by the 21st century Robin Hood who looked more like a pop singer than a soldier. Typical Saturday night "entertainment" for the UK. Thank God we get some respite with Andrew Lloyd Webber.

OMG! *hugs Ellie 'til he can't breathe*

I thought I was the only person in the UK who didn't like it! Yay!

Yes, it was cheesy, some of the lines were really annoying. Little John annoyed me so much, he only spoke like three times and it was always something stupid "we don't do town" or "him I do not like". The language was really werid as well, with modern phrases mixed in with them trying to sound old "we cannot" and then the next minute "we're gonna free him".

Even the bad guys annoyed me (and I love my villians). The Sheriff man was clearly trying to be like Alan Rickman's sheriff, but failing magnificently.

Maid Marian and her Merry Men were better, because they were never taking themselves seriously. This programme didn't know whether it was coming or going.

*shakes head and mutters about quality of productions going down the drain*

Ok, rant over now. :D

*hands Ellie an oxygen mask*

OMG, and the fights that we kept seeing in slow motion and from different angles. There was one scene when Robin backflipped off a building...again....and again....and again....and again...he really was some althlete to do all that. :eyeroll:

Gah, I think we could reach page one million just saying what was wrong with this show. Lol, yes I think I remember that scene as well. And then one of his men gets stabbed to shreds....and they're upset..and then the next minute they're all happy looking. :lost:

Well I have to agree with you that the plots are/were very repetative, and kind of silly. But I think it's alot better than all the older Robin Hoods where Marian has the damsel in distress Mary-sue effect, and Guy is just some random bounty hunter. I myself like the series, but that's just me. (Haha JF, Robin does look like a pop singer. Richard Armitage= and yes I agree Little John is soooooo annoying!)
But yes overall I like it. :) But I do agree with you Elegost, there could have been more angst in it. It always ended happy.....they should have done a cliffhanger.

About Robin shooting a rope in half......dosn't Legolas do the same thing in the Two Towers? Sorry...defending my favourite show here. :P

Anywho, I just keep babbling don't I? I really like it, so you can all point and laught now if you want.

Haha that's true! :P Legolas is much better. But if you had a big enough blade as an arrow tip, you could certainly chop a rope in half. Especially if the rope was tightened so it would stress and snap when you shot it.*shrug*

I'm rather conflicted on this show. On one hand its a facetious and repetative. On the other hand it has Richard Armitage and Jonas Armstrong (Pop star or not, he's one hot bowman! )
Its a show that I don't make an effort to watch, but I will if I'm bored. Watching gorgeous guys with bows is a good way to waste part of the day

I think I like it. That is, I loved the first 2 episodes. :P I've only seen 4 so far, as of this evening - although I'm feeling a bit disillusioned because I felt it as unecessarily dark... and rather violent. It seemed just a bit out of keeping, almost. Personally, I'm very happy to watch something that is light entertainment - humorous, semi-modern (it reminds me a bit of A Knight's Tale in places) and family-viewing. I watch it with my family, and I'd rather not feel sorry for my younger sister if she's not allowed to watch because something is more highly rated.

It's also apparent I know absolutely nothing about Robin Hood, except what I picked up reading the little kid's picture book Peepo (it's the only reference to him I can think of, asides from Shrek, that is) which mentions... I think his name? So with that in mind, I don't have any expectations that need to be met, and I didn't find aspects predictable because I didn't know what his friends were called or who Marian was or anything...

So yes, provided it doesn't turn really dark and violent, I'm definately enjoying it.
