Oh, Moriarty. He is my biggest disappointment with Sherlock. The voice, the fanboy-ness....I hope that it was all a mistake, and that that guy was just filling in for the real Moriarty. Or that was all an act. Or something. He bothered me and I don't want Moriarty, leader of all that is crime, dark terror in the night, the only man who can effectively and consistently foil Holmes, to be Jim from the lab. No. Just, please. No.

After two seasons now, and rewatching, I have come to terms with this. He is much more an insane leader of crime, dark terror of the night who hides under the mask of weird voices and fanboyness. :P So I do enjoy his adaptation now (even if it probably isn't my favorite Moriarty ever...)

And they did Irene Adler. It actually wasn't too bad in my mind, thankfully they only relegated her to one episode instead of trying to draw her in again.

^Yeah, Elementary. :orly: Hm. I'm interested in how they'll do, but I'm not expecting much.

*flails in* I love Sherlock Holmes!!!
The RDJr version was the first one I saw, then I read some of the stories, (still working on 'em) and I desperately want to watch BCC's Sherlock. Plus, I'm excited to see Elementary tonight. :D

^Yes, go watch BBC's Sherlock!

So, I watched the first episode from Elementary. I don't want to spoil anything, so won't go into detail, but I did not like it very much. Ofcourse I'm biased because I LOVED the BBC version, but they made it into a kind of show I wouldn't like anyway. It reminded me more of CSI than of Sherlock Holmes.

What did you guys think of it?

I found it enjoyable, but....eh. It seems more of a "if it's on I'll watch it but I won't go searching it out" type of thing. I do love Jonny Lee Miller, and his sass and so on was pretty great. It felt more like a crime show with some Holmes thrown in, though. Fine as a show, but sub-par as a Sherlock Holmes adaptation.

I was not wild about it, at all. I wont go into details, otherwise I'll wing up writing a big paragraph, but I went in doubtful that I'd like it, and came out just as I thought, not liking it.

I guess in some ways Elementary is being viewed how Sherlock was originally - oh Sherlock in modern day? Never work, but I'll watch it.

Elementary I think is probably the same BUT it now has 3 things against it - modern, female Watson, rip off almost of the BBC's revered version.

I think it's just about coming to the UK now, but I've got no interest in watching it. Not even for Mr. Knightley himself. :P

Elementary was.. alright. I love the way Holmes' mind works and following his train of thought, but.. how do I put this? I almost feel like I didn't see much more than what I already saw in the trailer.. Y'know?

I really liked BBC's Sherlock. Haven't really seen Elementary. Now I've finally got around to seeing the newest movies.

I read a few of the stories for school, I really should do so again.

Love, love, love BBC Sherlock. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are my favourite duo right now, and I'm itching for series 3 to start! We have such a long wait!

I've been absent from the site for a while, but in this time I've started BBC Sherlock! :D I finished season 1 and I'm going to start season 2 as soon as I get the chance. But I've heard A Scandal in Belgravia isn't exactly family-friendly... How bad is it? Like, just a fast-forward through the scene, or just read a summary on Wikipedia and move on? I'd hate to have to do that, but if the episode isn't appropriate I guess I'd have to. Thoughts?

Well, Irene Adler is pretty up front about her line of work, which I'd not say is family friendly. It definitely has some pretty dark moments too. But other parts are really good. I guess my suggestion would be read a bit about it, and if you feel like you would be fine watching, then go back and see it.

I haven't seen the movies yet, but I've watched Benedict's Sherlock about a year now. I think Benedict is a great Sherlock, probably better than any others. His version of Sherlock is different than the others, 'cause his deductions take place in the 21st century London, not in the 19th century London. I think I'm more addicted of Sherlock than Lotr.. if possible. And the mini-episode of Sherlock is finally out! I just can't wait to the january the 1st, when the third series finally starts!

Has anyone else already seen the new episode?

I was nearly glued to my tv-screen yesterday evening, so I wouldn't miss one second of it :p And although I really want to throw my ideas and opinions out there, I'll wait and not spoil anything for you.

Needless to say that I'm über-excited! :) :bounce:
I'd love to discuss every bit of the episode with you afterwards, Lhun!

Aaaaand did you see it?? :-D

I'll start off the discussion, and it'll certainly contain SPOILERS!! So beware if you haven't seen it yet!!

A lot of things were very good: John's reaction to seeing Sherlock again (and the multiple fights that followed), Molly tagging along as Sherlock's assistant, Sherlock meeting all his London friends, Sherlock's parents (!!), the dialogues between Sherlock and Mycroft, and especially the different theories as to how Sherlock survived the fall. The Sherlock/Moriarty version made me giggle :p

What I didn't like so much was Sherlock's anti-social behaviour, and his lack of understanding John's reactions. He takes it a bit too lightly, yet at the end of the second season he had clearly shown some improvement in that aspect. Although it also might have to do with what he's been through in the past two years... But nope, I didn't really like that. I also missed the cleverness of the first two seasons. The case felt a bit rushed, even though Mycroft had insisted that Sherlock should come to solve it. Most of the episode was dedicated to reunions, and the case was solved in a matter of minutes

But I'm going to watch it again tomorrow evening, maybe I just missed all the clever clues! And the next episode should be amazing, or so I've heard ;-)

This thread is going to be the bane of my existence if we start talking series 3. I haven't been able to watch it, and I won't be able to till next weekend. Until then I've been sneakily reading reviews advertised with no spoilers. It is killing me.
