Cersei, Margaery, Littlefinger, and Jaime are some of my favourites. I liked Robert and Renly when they were alive too.

Basically, the ones who understand that they're in a very political world, and that to get ahead you have to play the game. The Starks are just way too oblivious; the only ones I can tolerate are Bran and Rickon, because they're too little to be as tedious as their brothers/sisters/parents. :P

I never liked Lady Stark, but I'm pretty sympathetic toward the rest of the Stark family...Arya has been my favorite of the little ones because the child actress who plays her is good and I like her spunk. It took me a while to warm up to Sansa but I'm still curious to see how she's going to grow/change. Rob did piss me off when he fell so easily in love and reneged on his promise to one of the bannermen, making matters more complicated.

I agree with you that it's hard to dislike those antagonistic characters because they are so interesting, and you have to admire their will and means to hold on to their power. I miss Robert, too. I felt like Renly died too soon (at least in the show), I had hardly formed a full opinion of him.

What do you think of Tyrion? He's always been one of my favorites. He also has to be the funniest character.

I feel like the first season is more memorable for me than the second season. First, the two characters I really loved died by the end of season 1: Ned Stark and Khal Drogo. I was so sad. I mean Ned Stark...is Ned Stark, his arc was great. And his character, I feel, was one of the most likable. He has his flaws, but most of the other GoT characters have such ambiguous motives or enormous flaws. With Khal, at first I was really indignant because I couldn't believe Daenerys was getting forced to marry him, but then he turned out to be such a sensitive and great leader, husband, and WOULD HAVE BEEN AN AMAZING FATHER. Oh, sadness.
Daenerys was one of my favorite characters from the beginning - she is so pretty! That final episode of season one when she's rising from the ashes with her dragons - wow that gave me such chills.

I loved Ned and mourned his death but his demise was the cathalyst for most of the game of thrones, pun intended. I'd love to see him in flashbacks, or visions or dreams, like we saw Khal Drogo. Daenerys is for sure my fave carácter, she would make an amazing queen.

he's my second favorite, love him, his intelligence and how he uses it, he's just brilliant.

Ooh, that would be great, to see Ned again even if it's only through a flashback. I actually wish there were more Khal flashbacks as well. My attachment to these dead characters...T___T

Oh, Tyrion...he is perfect. I loved him in books and love him now, in the show. Also, Peter plays him so well! Tyrion's intelligence and wit always amazes me and I never have enough of him.

Yes! He's been the most likable character from the beginning. Great character all around, but Peter also has to be given a lot of credit for making Tyrion so sympathetic to the audience. He's the only American in the cast if I'm correct, but his accent is really good!

Tyrion's and Cersei's war of wits is always so entertaining to watch. I fear for him though. I'm quite attached to the character but if the fates of all the other characters are indicative of anything, I don't know what to think of the future. >___<

I am sure he will be fine, he is kind of characters that Martin just can't kill :P But...at the other hand...Martin is almost serial killer ^^

I wonder what will happen to Theon in the next episode ^^

I once read this quote of George R. R. Martin, where he said the last book would be hundreds of pages of wind blowing across the grass with no one left in the world. O__O

It would, but the metaphor he made of it is conceivable, with the way things are progressing. Do you think all the characters we care about will die (and not by the "slow decay of time")? My friend says there are probably going to be at least three more seasons...I wonder where we'll stand at the end.

*************SPOILERS***************
So, has everyone recovered from the bloodbath we witnessed last week, or are some of you still reeling? I personally fit the former category, but my initial watching of it (I watched it pretty much all the way through a second time, awful as it was to see again), I was wide-eyed & stood stock-still with horror & shock throughout that entire sequence. I totally didn't see either Robb's or Catelyn's deaths coming (Robb's wife's death wasn't entirely unexpected, since that seemed the most likely means Lord Frey would have used to express his, to put it mildly, displeasure that Robb had reneged on his promise) :-o! I'm glad neither Jon nor the younger Starks have been killed, though— besides Tyrion and Daenerys, I like all of them but Sansa (who I've started to warm to now that the blinders on her eyes about Joffrey have come off) the most.

I'm also finding the fact that "The Hound" is becoming Arya's de-facto protector quite interesting (as cool as it was to see him get Sansa out of harm's way, I thought that was a one-time thing, and we'd never see him again after he took off during the Battle of Blackwater.). He told Arya that he was just taking her to Lord Frey's castle because he figured Robb or Catelyn would pay him handsomely if he brought her to them safe and unharmed, but why did he bother saving her again even after guessing (rightly) that both were dead? I'd say he's going to take her to King's Landing like she originally suspected he would, but him telling her, "[Screw] the king" makes me think that's a bit unlikely. It'll be interesting to see what he does with her from now on .

What else? *Ponders* Quite the (presumed) evolution Jaime has been going through since his hand was cut off :confuzzled:! Depending on how he behaves now that he's back at King's Landing & once more around Cersei, Tywin, etc., I may start liking him, despite the fact that it was him who, at the beginning of the show, pushed Bran off the parapet with the, I assume, intention to silence him permanently (e.g. kill him), and until his maiming this season, he was pretty much a bad guy all around. I'm curious to see where his arc goes .

Some thoughts on tonight's episode
Bran. I was really hoping he, his fellow seer, and said seer's sister would go to Castle Black with Sam & Gilly (I'm also glad these two & the baby are still alive & kicking) :[! But Bran seems to believe it's his destiny to seek out the three-eyed raven (and it may very well be), so that's that, at least for now. *Shrugs*

Jon. I was so worried about him after Ygritte shot three arrows into him =[! I'm glad he made it (or he seems to have, at least) :).

Gendry. I'm relieved he wasn't bled to death by Melisandre. And good on Sir Davos for helping him escape . Speaking of which, I'm glad Melisandre convinced Stannis to spare Sir Davos (great irony there, BTW) after his "treachery" was revealed.

Arya. The odd pair she and "The Hound" make up is getting more & more interesting. He not only helped her kill those soldiers, but all he told her after the deed had been done was that the next time she decides to do something like that, she should let him know. I really wish we'd gotten some inkling of where they're headed, though .

Jaime. Interesting (though not surprising, I suppose) that he went to see Cersei before anyone else upon returning to King's Landing. I'm curious whether the two of them will pick up where they left off, so to speak, or the presence of Brienne, his experiences while being escorted back to King's Landing by her (e.g. his maiming), and Cersei's pending marriage to Sir Loras will dissuade the resumption of that incestuous relationship.

Sansa. All I can say is the poor girl :(! First, she had to witness her father being beheaded, then she was more or less imprisoned in King's Landing, she's been forced to marry Tyrion (though he didn't want to marry her, either, and has been very good to her so far, & will no doubt continue to be), and now she's lost her mother, her brother, and has no idea if the rest of her siblings are alive or dead =(.

Daenerys. Of all the remaining leads, she's the one who's most consistently had good luck (with the exception of losing both her husband & child, obviously). The closing scene of her being called "mother" by all the slaves of Yunkai was awesome :-D! Hopefully that aforementioned good luck will continue 8). Also, I really like Dario ! I wonder if he'll end up being a new love interest for her ?

Theon. I'm not sure what to think of him, really. I liked him before he turned on the Starks, then I really disliked him, but following everything that's happened to him since, and him expressing his guilt over, as far as he knows, killing two princes who were only boys (e.g. Bran & Rincon), I'm starting to feel kind of bad for him :[. He was tortured for god knows how long, "altered" following that, and now he's had his name taken from him & has been abandoned by his own father (though that's not exactly surprising, as his father's a total you-know-what). Good to see that his sister stood up for him, and has every intention of rescuing him, though.

...and we're up to Season 5! I've only watched to the end of season 3 and that was thanks to a couple trans pacific flights. I need to catch up on this since I've long ago given up trying to read he books.

I wish they would make more episodes per season. Ten are not enough especially since we wait almost a year for the new season to begin.

I have the first 4 seasons on dvd and season 5 won't be out until March 16, 2016.

I got the first book...Game of Thrones...for Christmas and I am still struggling with it, I doubt I will ever finish it

I'll have to get season 5 sometime this next year so I can watch it and be caught up for season 6 when it comes out on disc. I usually have to wait for disc release because it only shows on Foxtel here in Oz, and I'm not going to pay anything to Fox for the privilege of watching TV. I could be one of the many Aussie bootleggers, but I guess I'm too honest for that.

We are getting caught up with all the seasons before we watch Season 5. Right now, we are halfway through Season 2.

Just started watching this and am now half-way through season 2. Not really interested much since I hope all characters except for 3-4 die, but I know they probably will so it's okay. I just somewhat care about a few of the storylines really.
