*le gasp* I almost forgot to post this. ![]() Well tonight is the night, all lovers of movies and award shows... or just those of us who like to point and laugh at how badly dressed the rich and famous are. ![]() So... who is going to win what... what do you want to win? Is the award show actually going to be decent this year, instead of embarassing, boring or mildy entertaining? I have my fingers crossed for Natalie Portman, How to Train Your Dragon, TRON, and Iron Man 2. But yeah. I watch them every year. Anne Hathaway and James Franco should be HILARIOUS. |

It seems like the movies up this year were especially good and entertaining. I only wish I had actually seen most of them. ![]() First impression: James Franco and Anne Hathaway are adorable, but they're act... kinda stunk, actually. I mean, they get up to be ribbed by their mother and grandmother? Obviously, even though they got the young, hip hosts, the Academy is still trying to please their normal demographic. Oh my gosh, Kirk Douglas was such a ham. ![]() |

Did anyone see the nod to LotR during the Costume Design with Cate Blanchett!! Amazing, and I love the giant Arwen/Aragorn that was in the background ![]() |

At least you guys get to see it. My brother watches it on th internet, but this year missed the first 70 minutes as he couldn't find it anywhere and even when he did find a good link, it kept stopping and starting. Hopefully there will be bits on Youtube and the news programmes tomorrow. Yay for Eli Wallach though! ![]() |

My thoughts. Inception winning four awards! I know that doesn't seem like a big deal but my pet movie last year, Inglorious Basterds, only won one award. Natalie Portman! Anne Hathaway is so cute in that tuxedo. Just adorable! The Social Network winning only three? And I thought that'll be the winning horse of the year Geoffrey Rush bald and shaven. What happened? Natalie Portman! Looking gorgeous as always! Helena Bonham Carter looking so gorgeous in the audience Anne Hathaway's song about Hugh Jackman....and Hugh Jackman's face of shame. Cate Blanchett ftw! And LOTR. Zachary Levi singing. Wow...voice of an angel right there. Natalie Portman! Still looking gorgeous with her equally attractive fiancé James Franco seemed...rather dull honestly. Who in the right mind called Sandra Bullock as a revolutionary actress? Natalie Portman! Looking beautiful and sexy in that dress. While pregnant. Little Ball of Light lol! Followed by "Doesn't he own a shirt?" Robert Downey Junior and Jude Law together. Wow...just wow. I love how Jude Law desperately tries to praise the visual effects team and Robert Downey Junior shoots them down and Jude Law remarks that without the people he would be nowhere after that one incident ending with Robert Downey Junior denying Jude Law a ride to the after-party Jeff Bridges presenting the Best Actress. Gotta reconsider him in Iron Man. NATALIE PORTMAN! Winning Best Actress!! |

^ LOL. Geoffrey is currently appearing in a play in New York and that's why his head is shaved. I saw the Tangled clip on Youtube - Levi sounded so nervous I wanted to hug him. Can't wait to see th Kirk Douglas clip on Youtube, just been reading about it. I think from what I've read, Franco was meant to be dull. |

Meh, I wasn't super thrilled with this years shindig. I loved the LotR nod with Cate, I had friends over to watch it and I shushed them all when that part came up. RDJ and Jude were wonderful and funny, my man friend tried to cover my eyes while RDJ was talking, but I just got up off the couch and sat in front of the tv. ![]() James was FUNNYYYY. I follow him on Twitter, and I loved all the clips and pictures he posted while the whole thing was happening. His awkward/quiet/stoned/thing was funny. Anne was sweet, but I think that their act was a very acquired taste. No real surprises to be honest, kind of disappointed that Toy Story 3 won best animated picture, because I really did prefer How to Train Your Dragon. I bawled like a baby during TS3, but HtTYD was just better overall. |

I didn't actually watch it (unfortunately, as I really wanted to see the Zach/Mandy duet) but have a few thoughts on the winners. Social Network winning best editing - Perfect. Social Network winning best score - Absolutely Inaccurate. Did they not even listen to How to Train Your Dragon? That score is perfect! And wonderful! And everything a SCORE should be! When you win for score, it should be a score that makes people want to go out and buy the soundtrack. I was bummed about that one. Also, I loved the King's Speech, but Inception is such an inspired movie I'm surprised it didn't win best screenplay. |

Watching the highligts now. I did not get a word of what Kirk Douglas said... if I had been the nominees for Best Supporting Actress I wouldn't have known whether I had won or not... I guess that's why Melissa.. what'shername looked slightly bewildered! ![]() Oh and yay, for In A Better World (which I haven't seen) *waves Danish flag* I always feel a lot more proud and patriotic with these kind of things than any sports... ![]() EDIT: It annoys me that these awards shows always have the Best Actress-award before Best Actor as if the award for best Actress is less important than Best Actor. It's a small thing but they did the same thing to The Golden Globe and any other major award show I remember seeing. /semi-feminist moment |

I didn't get to watch the Oscars at all this year. *sad face* But I guess that's what happens when one doesn't have TV or internet at their flat. ![]() Also, I have seen very few of all the films nominated. Not that I haven't wanted to. This year seems to have the most films that I want to see and I think it's one of those rare years that nearly every film nominated is brilliant. Looking at who won (without really having an educated idea of their performances), I'm pretty much okay with everybody that won. I wasn't really shocked at who won what. YAY for Christian Bale!!! That made me happy. I had a feeling that "The King's Speech" was going to do as well as it did getting Picture and Actor and Director. I knew TS3 was a shoe-in to win in the animated department. Just because it's Toy Story. And Pixar. And Disney. And freaking Toy Story. ![]() HOWEVER, THIS REALLY irked me: Nurrantiel Mashiara wrote: Social Network winning best score - Absolutely Inaccurate.

When you win for score, it should be a score that makes people want to go out and buy the soundtrack. I was bummed about that one. I have not seen "The Social Network," so I have no idea of what the score sounds like. BUT, when I found out HTTYD was nominated for best score, I was SOOOO happy to know that SOMEBODY within the Academy thought as I (and apparently Nurr as well ![]() Otherwise, I'm okay with how it went down, prize-wise. ![]() ![]() ![]() OH! And I'm glad "In A Better World" won for foreign film. HUZZAH for Denmark!! Now I get to go search for another Oscar winning Danish film to fall in love with. HAHAHAHAHA!! Now I just need to watch all these damned movies. ![]() |

GAH. I'm just so not happy with this. I need to rant a little more. THIS is one of the tracks from the Social Network soundtrack. THIS is one from How to Train Your Dragon. (You have to force it to play past 1 second, for some odd reason it doesn't go automatically.) Dear Academy, you are idiots. ![]() I've seen both movies. I loved both movies. I wouldn't want to sit and listen to Social Network's soundtrack without anything to go with it. |

Does anyone know if there's a way to watch the whole thing online now that it's done? I only got to see the highlights, because none of the links I found would load properly at the time... |
