Ice Age 1 and Shrek 1 are a toss-up for me. The follow-ups had the problem that the novelty of the first movies was gone, but Shrek held up better than Ice Age - the latter's 4th one is one I should have given a miss. And looking at the many previews for other animation movies by the same studios in the ones I have made me decide to give a whole lot of them a miss. I may have a similar (slightly less virulent) aversion to Disney like the one JRRT had, so that eliminates a pretty big swath of animation territory. The opposite is true for Dreamkworks SKG, but they did more than just animation, if I recall correctly.

I have to say I'm partial to Roger Rabbit.

I love animated movies so it's hard to choose just one. For a classic one, I would pick Fantasia, and for a modern one I would pick Finding Nemo because I love Ellen Degeneres' portrayal of Dory.

One movie that I hesitate to put in the animation category, which in fact probably belongs in a one-movie category of its own, is Disney’s 1940 “Fantasia”. With the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted Leopold Stokowski providing the music, it is also one of the few recordings of classical (and very likely other styles which music aficionados would easily identify, but not limited-experience yours truly) music that I listen to occasionally. According to Wikipedia, it was Disney’s third animated feature film. Well, since then, in comparison, they have dropped so low that they must be close to earth’s solid iron core by now.

I'm not sure I would go that far, Gando. I still enjoy many of their efforts although I must admit that they have been eclipsed by Pixar over the past decade or so.
