I haven't seen the latest X-Men movies or the Avengers or any of the movies of the people in it. Or the new Spider Man. Which is weird because I love that type of movies, really.

I haven't seen any of them either.

I liked the first Spider-Man, with Tobey Maguire. I've talked about some of my dissatisfaction with him in the worst actors thread. I've only seen the first Iron Man and I remember thinking it was okay. I like RDJ a lot.

I like the first Pirates movie. Then the rest got increasingly stranger. Johnny Depp is great, but he's almost gotten too gimmicky. I feel like I haven't seen him in a normal period piece since Public Enemies, which was pretty good. Oh! I saw The Tourist, which was a disappointment, considering the Jolie-Depp star pairing. I expected at least a little more. :'-(

I did really like Public Enemies. Haven't seen the Tourist though, but I will. Someday. I've seen all of his movies up to and including Pirates 3, I believe, so I guess I have to get there sooner or later. xD
(I've seen three later than that too, but scattered.)

I don't like Pirates 3 at all. It's strange and very chaotic movie. At least for me. I feel like I was drowning while watching it. But Pirates 4 are good.

I'm the opposite. Yeah, the fourth one didn't have Will or Elizabeth (ew) but it was just... badly written and didn't have any of the charm the first one had. The second and third are fair, but the fourth... no. The first is amazing though, I remember when I was a dork and tried to keep count of how many times I'd seen it, but I lost count somewhere after 380 times. :erm:

I like most first and second, I can watch it all the time. I maybe even prefer second over first. But third...bleh.

Yes, the fourth didn't have Elizabeth and Will and that was good. I really can't stand that pair.

All Batman films, btw. Except I haven't seen the new one, although I don't know why.

Oh yes, Batman, especially the old movies, is great. I remember watching Batman Returns for 100 times when I was a kid. Love Catwoman!

We had Batman Forever on VHS, recorded from TV. That was awesome. xD

I was on Batman Forever in cinema, though I usually don't go to cinemas ^^ And it was great thing, I remember sitting like on needles.

Jurassic Park. Fer sure. No discussion. XD

Haha you must really love them. I have a faint memory of watching one of them when I was reaaally young.
The Jurassic Park ride at Universal Studios Hollywood is awesome. You get soaked every time but it is sooo worth it! :jump:

Ooh, I like Charlie's Angels with Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu! I haven't seen them again in years though so my opinion might change if I rewatch them, but I thought they were fab when I was younger. ^^ Women kicking mad butt!

Jurassic Park is the movie of my childhood. The main movie. I remember how it started my obsession over dinosaurs. I knew almost 300 different species of dinos!

Yeah I remember watching it when I was too young to have been allowed to. But it was so cool and my older siblings could. I definitely wasn't even near being old enough to see it at the cinema, but now I am!

Oh you sweet summer children...

Heat has one of the best, if not greatest shoot-outs ever in cinema between Al Pacino and Robert de Niro.

Drive may not start off like an action/suspense film but it slowly seeps into it and it becomes awesome.

Inception works really well as an action film as well as science fiction.

Battle Royale may not work with everyone since it involves a Japanese junior high school class forced to kill each other but it is still a good film regardless. Though there are some...odd moments in it.

Those are the ones that come to mind right now.

I seem to be one of the few people who didn't like Inception as much as the rest of the world's population did. I thought it was plenty cool and perfect summer blockbuster material, but I couldn't buy into all the hype and how people were purporting it to be so much more complex than it is. It's great that you pointed out Inception is science fiction, because that makes it easier to take more seriously. There were people who tried to shove how "psychological" it is down others' throats and I just shook my head.

I don't want to compare Memento to Inception because they are entirely different, but because both are Nolan works and share plot constructs of time (and space) I want to say I did really enjoy Memento. I thought Guy Pearce carried the film excellently and I found the layered storytelling really interesting to figure out. Memento is definitely psychological, but the way the narrative is laid out and the flashbacks bear some resemblance to Inception.

I only recently became impressed with Leonardo's acting, because I loved his performance in Django. Prior to seeing that, I've always thought of him as a fine actor but somewhat lacking in the leading man charisma he was supposed to have (going off of Gangs of New York, one of my favorites, and Shutter Island). Exclude his early romantic dramas.

Speaking of, I really enjoyed Django Unchained! Did anyone else see it?

One of my favorite action films is The Man From Nowhere. It's Korean but is pretty popular among foreign film buffs, so I wonder if anyone here has seen it. It's not particularly groundbreaking, but what it did, I felt was done well.
