Ahem. Personally, I think it's even better than Twilight. If nothing else, the idea is certainly more original. And Ian, as a character, is just as romantic - if not more so - than Edward.
I'm a huge fan of the book. Also a huge fan of Ian.
Personally, I was a bit horrified over the Souls at first, although then I grudgingly began to love them. (Who couldn't like Wanderer?) Their peaceful nature was <i>such</i> a dramatic change from the typical alien-invasion, and I found it refreshingly unique. Wanda's distaste of guns was both amusing and sweet as well.
The humans were even more amazing. Especially Ian. (Have I mentioned that I <i>love</i> Ian?

) I found her descriptions much more refined in this book, I could picture the caves so vividly that it was surreal.
And I think my favorite scene either has to be when Jared is about to get beat up and Mel/Wanda steps out in front of him.
