I know Im sorry. I was just so flustered. :(

and I respect everyone's opinions of course...but I dont think ppl are really bashing POTC as bad as they're bashing Eragon here.

No, I assure you... they were. Not bashing, but constructively criticizing.

And don't feel bad! Eragon isn't a bad book... it's very well written, but it just lacks a bit of creativity.

That was me... :P

I agree, it was well written. But for how long it was, there wasn't alot a creativity.

I like the length of the books actually.

but yes..there wasnt a whole lot of creavity. but magic, deaths, travels, adventures...are just all in about every fantasy...so it lacked some creavity and yet it didnt.

^That's a good point. With so many stories out there some stuff is going to get copied. No need to scream your head off about it. But you shouldn't ignore it, really.

And I'm sure that our creative writings sound a whole lot like the story we're currently obsessed with. I know mine do. It takes a lot of work to get certain nuances and archetypes out of your head before writing. :) So it's not like CP is going to be the death of us all. (Though, of course, our writings are not best-selling books... ;) )

I'm currently writing a story. Of course, my main characters are almost Mary-Sueish, which makes me feel bad, because my sister and I invented them a long time ago. Quite a few years. So they have a very strong personality. [/offsubject]

But when you think about it, there are plenty of books out there that have very original plot lines, and those don't copy anything.

Like Narnia! haha...;)

but LOTR, SW and tons of other fantasies were written way before CP wrote Eragon and Eldest.

so its like..all the orignial plots were mostly filled. :p

I just finished reading a book where the absense of new plot lines is an issue, so books are determined obsolete.

^More to it. But still. While I was reading it, I couldn't stop thinking about Eragon and CP.

thats definately the problem CP had, he liked LotR and the like way to much to write his own decent fantasy series.

i like the length of the books, omg Darky likes something about them, but nvm. Its a nice length, and its not like most fantasy books where they're little tiny words on little tiny pieces of paper in books that wont sit flat.

That gets annoying too.
But I guess the books really weren't good enough to make a movie out of.

Nope. And the length....bleh. Too short. A good Fantasy book is at least 800 pages long, in my opinion. :P But then, I read a lot of fantasy books that I don't necessarily call 'good' anyways, just for the sake of reading them.

But yeah, CP liked LotR waaaaaay too much.

Btw, one of my friends is friends with several of CP's best friends. It's kind of cool--he could probably meet CP, if he wanted.

800 pages? :eyeroll: picky! haha...just like my brother..:p
Eldest is close and Im guessing the third book will be maybe at least around 1000.

lol..the only reason why i read the books was because of a commercial for the movie.

I seem to recall Eldest being only like 650 pages. Not long enough. :annoyed2:
