It's not that we like saying it... it's pretty much true.

Well, I think he got his ideas of magic from Ursula K. LeGuin's Earthsea Cycle. Either that, or she got it from somewhere else, too.

Well. If you disagree, find one part in either book and prove it's original.
[starts timer] No, you're not being timed. But still.

No. I'm not gonna do that. Because whatever I say, you guys are gonna find some sort of "excuse" saying that he copied.
And dont get me wrong by not answering. Probably thinking that I really am not sure what he hasnt copied. I've got a few. But I've decided to excuse myself from this thread, as I should have done a few pages ago.
Im sure CP has made up a few things for his books himself. but no--he probably just copied a novel that hasnt even been published yet!

No no... Tolkien's works have all been published ages ago.
And what did he make up? The few little name alterations and fillers to bring the stories that he copied from together? I don't really think that counts...

Nope. That doesn't count. I agree with you 100%, Haldir. CP is waaaay unoriginal. He might do well as an RPer, but as an author, I hope he never publishes another book, for the sake of those who like to read.

the Ra'zac reminded you of the Mummy? *dies of laughter* no, but the Nazgul are so evil and scary... *shivers* much scarier than a big bug with a beak.

Well, if I don't look at his books, Shy/TN, then I can't criticize him very well, so I'm going to read his books.
w00t! You've read The Earthsea Cycle, Dark? That's awesome. I think I know of like two other people who have read it on this forum.

ooooooohhh........now I see: you're one of those people who like to point at the mistakes and faults of others and say what they're doing wrong...
edit:
and he couldnt have copied from The Earthsea Cycle, if he's never read the book! you never know.
besides...isnt using..umm...'words' to create and use magic common in most fantasy..?

Any other publisher would have rejected his book right away, but alas... his parents publishes his books. Hehe yeah... when I first saw them in the movie, I was like... "wait... that looks familiar... hmm... Imhotep!" And in the book, they really are quite ridiculous... they make me laugh. Shy wrote: ^Well then, if you hate him so, then dont ever look or read any of his books, Aerandir. Wellllllll, nobody really can hate something unless they have a reason to... and if we Aerandir (and any of us) refuse to read his books, then we cannot really say that we hate it. Shy wrote: ooooooohhh........now I see: you're one of those people who like to point at the mistakes and faults of others and say what they're doing wrong... The world practically lives off criticism... everyone points out others' mistakes... the world is not as happy a place as we all wish. Shy wrote: edit: and he couldnt have copied from The Earthsea Cycle, if he's never read the book! you never know.
Yeah... you never know... he probably has read it before.

ha, i read the "words" bit and i thought that you guys were arguing over wether or not writers use words.. i fell off my chair laughing once i realised you meant magic
its about a fifty/fifty split, some books just use magic, while others use just words, and some books use a combination of both...
