I actually think that is a valid point Ninor. If we hate the KKK it makes us lower our own personal standards . But I suppose that it is a natural human reaction to hate someone so intolerant of others tho.

Just a comment- doesn't hating the KKK make us as low as them? In a sense? Feel free to disagree.

There are definitely similarities, though as people have pointed out, the hatred and segregation theme has been a part of history since the beginning.

I agree it does... but that doesn't mean nothing should be done about them or any other supremist groups or support their behavior (and I'm not saying that's what you're suggesting, Nie). There's a difference between hating and disagreeing and taking action based on that disagreement.

There is another interesting parralel here. In HP, the ministry of magic refused to believe the death eaters had reformed and that it was just a random incidence. Rather like the KK, the authorities claimed not to know anything until the populace demanded to know the truth, This seems (not meaning to be political) that governments seem to not like admitting their faults and fixing them. Feel free to agree or disagree.
Or both......

i agree, nienor - while most people would (quite rightly) disagree with the KKK, you can't repay hatred with hatred.

and i agree with you too, bellethiel - refusing to hate them doesn't mean we refuse to act against them.
