Beriadanwen wrote: I reread the first chapter with bella/narcissa and snape - what an awesome chapter! and the dumbledore/draco convo near the end. And did you know that they american version has more in it than the british version (which I have). I found it on the internet. Dumbledore says more about hiding draco's parents and stuff...I'll try to find it.
EDIT: Here it is:
From the American edition (text missing from the UK edition in orange):
"He told me to do it or he'll kill me. I've got no choice." "He cannot kill you if you are already dead. Come over to the right side Draco, and we can hide you more completely than you can possibly imagine. What is more, I can send members of the Order to your mother tonight to hide her likewise. Nobody would be surprised that you had died in your attempt to kill me -- forgive me, but Lord Voldemort probably expects it. Nor would the Death Eaters be surprised that we had captured and killed your mother -- it is what they would do themselves, after all. Your father is safe at the moment in Azkaban...When the time comes we can protect him too. Come over to the right side, Draco...you are not a killer..." Malfoy stared at Dumbledore. (HBP US Edition pg 591)
Yeah, I read about that from the http://www.dumbledoreisnotdead.com site that MontanaBohemian gave us.

FINALLY!! I GET TO POST IN THIS THREAD!! >dances around happily< I finally got the book and read it...and now I can talk about it!!!
Okay...where to start...okay...I know I'm not the only one to say it...but I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT DUMBLEDORE IS DEAD!!!! That is so incredibly devastating...he was, like, my favorite "older" character...and now he's just gone...I cried during the "White Tomb" chapter. I was just so sad...but I think it's so cool that Lupin and Tonks got together! That's such an awesome twist...and Fleur and Bill!! Ha! It was really an amazing book...though I'm still suspecting somethin' nice going on between Ron and Hermione. I am a little sad that the next book won't be taking place at Hogwarts though...I'm going to miss all those professors!
But anyway...I'll rant and rave some more later. At least I've finally gotten to say something now!

Yay! I'm glad you finished it StardomeGirl!
Alrighty so I have a question - Let's say Snape is good, which I think he is. What use will he be for the Order if everyone thinks that he's evil? So Dumbledore gave up his life and all because he thought that Snape's role was more important than his, but none of that matters if everyone believes he's on the dark side. He may as well be evil.

Very good point, Beriad. Basically we have to concentrate on the "dead-man walking" list for the next book. Whether or not we like it, Snape will definitely be a dead-man walking since a) The order will be after him and b) Voldy has no need for him anymore now that he's out of Hoggywarts.
Another dead-man walking will be Malfoy, since the order, especially Harry, will be after his head and also Voldemort will probably be rid of Malfoy since he didn't personally kill Dumbledore and his father is already in Azkaban.
Can you think of any more dead-men walking?

Gosh Malfoy has gotten himself into a lot of trouble...I feel bad for him. It's because of those idiot parents of his that he's so messed up

Harry? Sorry Kit, I couldn't resist. You have permission to stone me.
Anyways, I think Narcissa would probably be a dead woman walking, from both sides. Obviously the "good guys" aren't too happy with the Malfoy family, and since she is Draco's mother, she will probably be a Death Eater target as well.

The whole Malfoy family are dead men/woman walking...one of them might live but that would just be out of pure luck

If Draco dies I die too. *reads a Fan Fic or two and dies* OK, I'm dead. Greet me.
But I couldn't stand seeing [s]Fred & George[/s] Gred & Forge being dead. NO!

I can't see Gred and Forge to be in any endangerment. What use does Voldemort have them dead? They're actually sorta helping him --- they're keeping the minds of everyone off the preeminent danger, especially the youngin's and it'd be more heartbreaking when there's a surprise Death Eater attack on Diagon Alley.

Well I'm sure that they'll be involved in the war against Voldemort. We saw in OotP that they were arguing with Mrs. Weasley about it. So I think they will be in danger. Will Voldemort go specifically after them? No but it might just "accidently" happen.

Yeah, I know. I mean if Draco had been raised in different conditions..say..with the Weasley family he'd be completely different. And they wouldn't hate each other..and well..he wouldn't be..just..bad. But haha, I agree with you Elf Girl. I die if Draco dies...so JK better not kill him off. I actually hope he'll seek redemption (I know, a long shot.)
Anyways, about Gred and Forge..I think pretty much everyone is in danger. The Weasley family is a pretty good target too, because they're all friends with Harry and very much against Voldemort. I could see him targeting their entire family. But I see more of Voldemort just targeting everyone, and him trying to get them hurt in the process.

Yeah, Weasleys might be in deadly danger (that's sad ...). But everyone is potential victim for Voldie - even the neighbour of Dursley family. I only hope Dud survives .
[s]Fred & George Gred & Forge [/s]Freg & Deorge [me: Way better]

Well, throughout the series, Voldemort has not killed anyone whom he did not intend to kill. Sirius, well, he was collateral damage because of Bellatrix. I'm sure, Voldemort didn't want Sirius dead --- more over wanted him alive so as to use him still as a diversion because of the ministry.
Fred and George? I don't see JKR killing them off. Sirius, yes. Dumbledore, yes. Fred and George? Nah. It's not worth the sheets of paper. Both deaths of Sirius and Dumbledore produced a huge effect on the main character, HARRY. The potential deaths of Fred and George will effect, Ron, Mrs. Weasley, the Weasleys --- mainly, but it doesn't put evolutional growth on Harry.
