He based all of his languages off of real languages.

I guess that's good, because then, yeah, you actually can speak them.

It is based off Old English, but it is still a language. Many modern languages are based off Latin, but they are still their own languages.

Of caurse, I sorta kinda have a language for my book/story... and it's not based off of another language really, but I use cryptogtaphy...

Like cat is dcu which I say would be pronounced deh-cue... and same rules as in english... I guess that's just because I'm to lazy to think of any...

That's okay, as long as it isn't random gibberish.

Hey, we've done Eragon talk too, if you haven't noticed... but I guess we are wondering slightly off topic!

Okay, back on topic...

I'm going to look at the language thing in the back of Eragon tonight, just to see how random it is.

Well I did some research and it turns out I wasn't completely right:

Christopher Paolini wrote:
I’ve always been fascinated with the sources of most modern fantasy that lie in Teutonic, Scandinavian, and Old Norse history. This is disregarding a large chunk of writing devoted to the myths from the British Isles. Because of this, I used Old Norse as the basis for my Elven language in Eragon, as well as many names. All the Dwarf and Urgal words, however, are of my own invention.

Wikipedia wrote:
The pronunciation, tenses, and other things about the Ancient Language can be found in the Language Guide in the Deluxe Edition of Eragon. Christopher Paolini stated on the official site of the Inheritance Trilogy (http://www.alagaesia.com/christopherpaolini.htm) that the ancient elven language is based on Old Norse, although he did make up all the dwarf and urgal words.

I would like to see that Deluxe Edition though. He didn't seem to have spent very long on that little language of his.
