I received all her books for Christmas and have so far read Pride and Prejudice (first reading) and Emma. I am currently reading Persuasion, which I have never read before. I have also read in the past Sense and Sensibility so I'm looking forward to once again enter the world of the Dashowood family. I think Emma is my favourite so far. I just love her character and Mr. Knightly of course. ;)

I'm reading Emma right now. It's a brilliant book, i highly reccomend it.

How have I not posted here before? I like Jane Austen a lot. So far, I've only read Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma, all of which I've loved and read multiple times. I really want to get Persuasion and Northanger Abbey, particularly Northanger Abbey since that one involves a sort of ghost story-ish thing if I remember correctly. Out of all of them, I liked S&S least, mainly because I couldn't relate to any of the main characters, and I didn't really like any of them. P&P I love to death. Probably because I love and relate to a lot of the characters.

I haven't read anything by Jane Austen but I just saw Becoming Jane and I loved the passages from her books. I never was a romantic but I might give at least P&P a chance some time. Or Northanger Abbey.. I got hooked when reading everyone's comments on it! :-)

Oh, Pride and Prejudice is a must Eä! I was loathe to read it [and Sense and Sensibility] at first but they really are wonderful books. Jane Austen was way ahead of her time when she wrote them. Good characters and good humour makes a good book. :-D

I've yet to read Emma and Northanger Abbey though. <s>I've heard Northanger Abbey is to be made [or has been made] into a movie, so I'll probably be reading that one soon.</s> Apparently there was an adaptation of Northanger Abbey on Jane Austen Season that I managed to miss. Ah well, I shall read it anyway.

By the way, Eä how was Becoming Jane? I want to see it very badly, but I don't even know if it's in cinemas here yet!

I know I know... I must read P&P *cowers in corner of guilt and adds it to the long list of 'must read books'* But perhaps if Northanger Abbey is shorter I could start out with that one.. do you know if it is shorter?
Really, the only romantic novels I've read unil now was for school. Much Ado About Nothing which is as much comedy as romance and then A Room With A View by E.M. Forster... didn't like it...

Becoming Jane was... well.. I believe Jane Austen fans would like it. It is bittersweet... since it is the story of her life... without saying too much...
I must say Anne Hathaway was adorable but... I'm not impressed by her acting. And James McAvoy was plain and boring... I longed for some romantic spark between the two.. But again I may not be the one to judge here. ;-)

*pats Eä on the head* There, there.. you'll get through them all eventually. :-D Hmm. I haven't actually read Northanger Abbey yet so I don't know if it's shorter. P&P and S&S are her more well known books which is why I started with them first. It's whatever you want to do.

I've never been impressed with Anne Hathaway's acting and the fact that she isn't really British makes it worse. I am disappointed about James McAvoy though. He's usually very good. Hmm. I'll probably end up seeing it anyway. :P

Ohh I really love talking about books, also books I haven't read, it makes me want to read them! :-D

You need to see becoming Jane, it is your duty as a Jane Austen fan! And then you need to come and tell me what you think... perhaps we could have our own little Austen fest in a movie thread!! :P

Ooh, what a brilliant idea Eä! I've just found out it doesn't show in cinemas here til the 10th of August. That's a bit of a wait, but completely worth it.

Ohh really, that's another month... what a disgrace in Miss Austen's own country. But I'll patiently wait for you to see it so we can continue our amiable conversation. Perhaps I will even get to read a bit of her books in the meantime... :-)

Lol. Speaking of books.. I've checked Mansfield Park out from the library and intend to read it this week. Hopefully I'll be able to rent the movie by this weekend.

I can't believe I haven't posted here before! I love her books. My favorites are Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility, but I like Emma as well. Those are the only ones I've read so far... I must get around to reading the others.

I also really want to see Becoming Jane, it looks very good. It's not in theaters here yet though...

I actually gave up on reading Persuasion, not because it was a bad book or anything, but I think I sort of lost my passion for reading at the time.

HP has helped me get it back though, so I hope re-read all her books that I have read before, and read the ones I haven't. Sense and Sensibility and Emma are my favourites so far. :-)

Just watched Sense and Sensibility last night... :swoon: I love Alan Rickman! I don't care how old he is, I can't help wanting to snog him. :teehee:

I still haven't made it through Mansfield Park. It's not boring, I just got distracted by HP and then ended up reading To Kill a Mockingbird instead..

D'ya think he would be scared to know how attractive he is to us females? Even the young'uns? Because I've felt that way for... ooh... many years now.... .... he is totally Colonel Brandon.... and I'm glad Marriane saw sense... because she was almost an Elizabeth Swann to Norrington in my eyes.... not good enough for him. :sly:

Yeah, I've been too distracted to read Jane Austen too *coughcough* But I'm hoping to see Pride and Prejudice on Friday.. we were planning on the BBC serie but it's 6 hours long and Blockbuster might not have it.. so I think we're going with the movie.

I was about to buy a Jane Austen box set with 5 of her main books for the price of one paperback but then I got afraid I'd get a romantic overdose... ehehe..

@ JF: Oh goodness, I think he already knows and I don't think it bothers him a bit. Probably makes him laugh. :P At least I hope it does. I don't know what's come over me... all of a sudden I've become very fangirly when it comes to Alan Rickman. :swoon: Obssessed much? I think so... ;)

@ Eä: I should be very ashamed of myself as I've never seen the BBC version of P&P. I'm probably the only Brit who hasn't. :teehee:
