My dad and I were talking about it. He said that in the book there was an albino from opus dei named....uhhh, well it started with an "S" any way, my dad is a member of Opus Dei, and he is not an albino. In fact, he is african. I find that sort of ironic.

I don't think he meant that all members of Opus Dei were albino. He just so happened to be an albino who was a member of Opus Dei...

Anyhoo, LOVE this book. It's soo suspenseful, interesting, funny, just really really good. I'm very excited for the movie!

^I'm sorry. There was a bit of pronoun confusment there. My english teacher would probably shoot me. Not that she's tought us about that stuff.

What I ment to say was that there is one member of Opus Dei that is named Silas, and he is african, not albino. *checks* Nope, no pronoun confusment here!

I have a feeling that the movie won't be as great as the book. For one, the lines are cheesy, from what I've heard so far. And it seems to have little chemistry.

I hope its not as bad as the critics say it is, but half of them probably didnt read the book so they were confused. I hope its good, but i dont think it could be as good as the book--i still cant wait till tomorrow!!!

sorry about the double post

i saw the davinci code yesterday!!! it was really good, they missed a few things, but i wont say becasue i dont want to spoil it for anyone, but you should go see it. i had to sit in the very front on the left side, my neck really hurts today. there were protesters there when i arrived at the theatre. They all had signs and rosary beads, one sign said "down with Brown!" and a few of them had a picture of Jesus--they were baning on the car and yelling at us...it was kind of odd. By the time we got out there was a huge line to get into the next movie and there were police all around and the protesters got sent home... dont listen to the critics it was a good movie

^ Really? I have to say that it sounds pretty fun having protestors there as long as no one got hurt. When I was at the cinema last night (seeing something else) all there was out side was this one guy who had boring looking leaflets about the real history of the church. He wasn't even trying to give them out.

^ wow thats it? there were like 15-20 people protesting at the theatre i went to, it wasnt a huge thing but they looked pretty upset about the whole DaVinci Code idea, i dont think anyone got hurt-i hope not they were either young kids or older people and it would be terrible if one of them got hurt

^Those people bug me. Its fiction, for crying out loud. I do have a small annoyance about it, when people go see the movie, knowing none of the facts, and then believe that fiction is fact, whe there is plenty of proof against it (But I won't go any further. I do fear the wrath of the mods) But if you know that facts, and don't believe any thing just because you saw it in the movie, its just fine to see it. I want to see it! It looks really good! And Gandalf is in it!

Me too. It is just an idea, a theory, and its a fiction book, theres no need to get worked up about it.

^^You know, I've been seeing much more people going psycho about this movie...and I guess the book as well. Doing what you said...the protesting. But you have to wonder....if it's NOT true, why even BOTHER protesting it? I mean, when the book FIRST came out...it was pretty quiet...then the church WENT crazy!! Denouncing it and so forth...saying that everyone should boycott it...yada yada yada....BUT if they had stayed QUIET, it wouldn't be as popular as it is today. So, you have to wonder why they're so on the offesive....must be SOMETHING they're hiding...:P ;) ha ha ha. You know, I've been refusing to see the movie (because of many reasons) but I have half a mind to see it JUST to get under these guys' skin. Ha ha ha....:P

Yeah, and they say all that court thing with Holy Blood and Holy grail was just another way for the books to get publicity, cos their sales doubled or something.

Yeah. My theology teacher read the book, and then saw the movie.

Hahahah you should totally go see it. It's actually very close to the book. Moreso than I expected. The changes aren't that drastic and help the main plot along. Despite my initial reservations. Hanks makes a very good Langdon...although I was missing the Tweed lol. Paul Bettany was every inch the Silas I had read and pictured in my mind. Ian McKellen was just a complete joy to watch, and I was bewitched by his every scene.

To be honest, I was sorta hoping for at least one protestor. I guess we went too early in the morning.

But um..back on topic (sorry lol). What you said about the protesters is so true. Why choose now to make such a big fuss about it? What is so wrong with it now, that wasn't when the book was first out?
Why no protests at Angels and Demons?
It's late and I'm rambling too much :duh:

^i think the reason there is no protesting about Angels and Demons is because its not such a big world wide book quite yet, but it will come soon because in the book Dan Brown is telling a story about a betrayer in the Vatican... i can feel the protesting will come soon though

Oh yeah that's it absolutely. I guess it was sort of a rhetorical question lol
There is rumours that it's being made into a movie as well, so maybe once that happens. You'll see the protests for it.

I just find all the protesting a bit much. Let people make up there own minds about it. If you don't like it, fine. Don't try to spoil other peoples enjoyment of something because of it.

I just finished the book, and watched the movie, and I liked it! The protesters outside the theater were a bit intimidating, but it was ok. A lot of people said that you shouldn't read the book right before watching the movie, but I thought it was ok...Of course, I did like the book better than the movie- I tend to prefer books over their film adaptations.
