It was sold out last night so I didn't get to see it (but got to see X-men instead woo yay!!) but I think I might be going next week.

Even if it isn't that great I still want to see it even just to join in conversations about the film :P

Well...i know I'm a little late but, I just started the book, I'm on page 41 and besides all the...well...blasphemy that I've already encountered it's an all around good book, and the plot's quite catchy =)

I was not that impressed by The DaVinci Code. It was an okay read but nothing spectacular. I don't see what all the hype is about.

Are we allowed to talk about the contents of the book- as in, the claims (blasphemy, in my view) that the author puts in it?

I finished reading soem months ago.

It was a good plot, I agree, a good source of entertainnment, but all the...lies? can i call them (in my point of view, they are anyway) just sorta killed the book.
It was a pleasent read though, i supppose. The well, dont wanna spoil it but "he" surprised me at the end, wasnt expecting it.

^ in order to really understand the film you have to read the book. It's a very fast read and very easy to get into. The book is a gazillion times better than the film :)

Have you actually read the book?

The author did not invent these claims. They are theories that have been around for centuries, probably for well over a millennium. He was simply inspired and fascinated by these ancient and well established theories and wanted to write a book around them. And no we cannot discuss the religious matters of this book!

Yep I can only agree with you. I think he was just inspired by all the theories of which I believe that they're quite old already. I see it as a very enjoyable novel, not as a scientific book or so.

No one said you had to.

Have you actually read it though?

It is very much an enjoyable novel, very exciting, thrilling and highly suspenseful. I personally believe and totally support the theories presented in the book but it's also easy to just take that aside and read the book for what it is; a great novel!

yep exactly. I love the fact that you can also put all those theories aside and just enjoy the book. But I also like the fact that the theories in this book make you think about the Christian religion and stuff.

and how could I judge if it were true or not, if I did not read it?

You'd be surprised at the large number of people who have not even read the book and yet judge its content as if it was coming from the very fires of hell - without even knowing what's really in the book!

The ancient theory of the bloodline is just a theory. You can neither prove it nor disprove it which is why it's up to the individual to decide for themselves whether it's true or false. The facts presented as to what the church has borrowed from pagan religions are true though, but that has been established for centuries before Dan Brown decided to incorporate that into his novel.

The Da Vinci Code is very much like National Treasure; clues hidden within the very sacred heart of the foundation - all pointing to this secret and hidden treasure long lost. It's exciting, it's thrilling and purely entertaining. If people already know it's fiction, then what's all the fuss about?

I never understood what all the fuss was about either. I mean, we all know it's a novel, nothing else. So if you don't want to believe it you don't have to. You can just enjoy it as a book.
