THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!!! (lol but I must rate it 14A.....mmhmm.....some inappropriate parts.....ya) but it is sooo good. It gives the Wicked Witch of the West's version of the Wizard of Oz story. Her side of what happend, you really like her as a person by the end. Yes she WAS kinda evil, but I really sassy, smart, tough girl just trying to accomplish something in life. So moving, I cried....like 3 times! NAD ITS A BOOK! Ne one else read it yet? I recommend it!!

I've never read it, but I think I've heard of it. It sounds really interesting. Who is the author?

That was a pretty good book, though I read half of it. They made that into a Broadway play and my choir class, along with the band, went to Toronto to go see it, but it was canceled because one of the actors was injureed and the understudy was in New York, but caught in a snowstorm so we had to watch Mama Mia instead, which was allright. Has anyone checked out his other book Confessions of an Ugly Step-Sister? I haven't read it, though it looks good.

I thought the book was all right, but a little too "adultish" for me to really enjoy. I think the play is way better than the book (even though it changed a lot around). The only thing I really liked about the book was all the back story about Elphaba and the Wizard and the destruction of the Animals.

I really liked this book, Gregory Maguire is a decent writer...and the premise is really interesting. I like it when authors take traditional fairy tales and stories and tell them from a new perspective.
That said...I really loved most of the characters, Elphaba was cool and Fiyero was amazing! I could have done without some of the religious aspect...I can't seem to remember what specifically it was called...but I just felt that it was unnecessary and bogged down the plot.
Plus the ending was so sad!
