I never have cried to a book, no matter how sad, I just lightly tear. It's weird, but I really don't express sadness as much as most.

The Brothers Lionheart by Astrid Lindgren always gets me! Such a sad and sweet story about death

Would people mind not saying who's death they were crying about since it can spoil the book for others who've not read it. Thanks
After crying through a good part of Anne of the Island yesterday I'll add that to my list. I've also remembered the book Through a Glass Darkly by Jostien Gaardner which is very sad yet beautiful at the same time.

I tend not to cry over books, though often if its really emotional I'll go and inflict the plot on my mother (ie, tell her all about it) so I get it out of my system.
The only two books I can remember crying over (they've probably been a couple more but they don't spring to mind) were Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson and I remember crying over something in the beginning of Playing Beatie Bow when I was ten...

I've definitely cried in books. As I get older it seems to happen less frequently but more intensly when it does... I'm not sure if it's because I'm older or because of the books or what, but there it is. Anyway, my Top Two Tear Tomes (gotta love alliteration) are The Eye of the Heron (by Ursula K. LeGuin) and King of Shadows (by Susan Cooper). I absolutely loved both of them and cried a lot. I also cried over the deaths in the 5th and 6th Harry Potter books, you know who they were (and it didn't help much that I watched Finding Neverland right after I finished Half Blood Prince). I cried in Eragon when my favorite character died, I cried in Shakespeare's Scribe when my favorite character died, amd I cried in The Seven Songs of Merlin when I thought my favorite character had died. I also cried in several of the Redwall books (most memorably Martin the Warrior).
I almost, but not quite, cried in the Silmarillion and The Three Musketeers.
There are probably a few others that I've forgotten.

Yes, a book that made me cry even though it wasn't sad was Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. I just thought it was beautifully written.

Books don't make me cry, but I sometimes have tears in my eyes when I read a beautiful part of LotR (again..) just because I like it so much and it's so beautifully written.

Is that a question or a statement? I have cried in sooo many books (Lord of the Rings is one of them!) I can't keep track... I remember not being able to see the page of 'Where the Red Fern Grows' in the last chapter because I was crying so hard... I also cry in Redwall. That's all I can remember for now, but I'm very sensitive to animals dying. Oh, I cried writing the end of one of my own books. That was satisfying.

^ Oh, yeah! When Cedric died, I cried a little. Then Sirius died, I cried whenever I thought of him! And now Dumbledore... Ugh... at the moment it seems that I start crying because of nearly everything that is a tiny bit sad...
