Has anyone read 'Inkspell' the sequel to the book 'Inkheart' by Cornila Funke? Is it any good? I have it, I just haven't gotten around to reading it yet. . . |

*coughs* Well, if you want to know my opinion on it... First of all, I find that even though her writing is good and really pulls you in, it doesn't have much depth. Secondly, (and this happens with all of Cornelia Funke's writing) she ends her books badly. No, I am not saying my writing ends well. But to be a published author and end books horribly? That's almost worse than published fan-fiction (Eragon). Thirdly and finally, Ms. Funke adds things into her stories that aren't necessary. One of the main things I am talking about is when she adds the love stuff between Meggie and Farid. Come on already, they're only thirteen! This also happens in all her writing. In Thief Lord, Scipio grows up. That's just mean. Personally, I find Cornelia Funke's writing a drag. And I would much rather read Victor Hugo, C.S. Lewis, or Alexander Lloyd any day. |

@Star Gazer: This description sounds kind of weird, but anywayz.... "Although a year has passed, not a day goes by without Meggie thinking of the extraordinary events of Inkheart, and the story whose characters strode out of the pages, and changed her life for ever. But for Dustfinger, the fire-eater, torn from his world of words, the need to return has become desperate. When he finds a crooked storyteller with the magical ability to read him back, he sets in motion a dangerous reversal that sees the characters of Inkheart transported to a charmed Inkworld, about to be fought over by rival rebels and princes. But can Meggie, Farid and Fenoglio ‘write’ the wrongs of a charmed world about to be fought over by rival princes and rebels?" the book is better than that description. ![]() @The Nightingale: Farid is actually like 3 years older than Meggie. he's more like 16. But I see your point. I still love Cornelia Funke's books though. |

I have to agree w. everything above. They make very interesting first reads, but after that, I never read them again. I'll undoubtedly by the third book when it comes out, read it once, then never again...ah, well. |

I agree with all of that too. No offense to Eragon, but the author pretty much stole the whole plot from other books/stories. |
