I'm not a fan, but I read the book. It's taken a long time for the second book to come out. Is it really long? I thought that it was quite impressive for a fifteen year old to accomplish, and it's popularity spreads I know. Personally, I'm not a fan mainly because although I thought that it was a good book, it seemed to lack enough excitement. ![]() My opinion only. I know many people like it - there's a newbie here called Eragonshadeslayer who no doubt would be interested! (I mean no offence to anybody with my comments) ![]() Have a good day!! ![]() |

You know, I have to agree with you on some of those levels. It basically fufilled so many of the conventional fantasy novels--similar to many already well know. But, in itself I think it was good. And about that Ayra girl/rescue...I never though about it that way. That's a good point! |

Yes, you're definitely right. It was still good - very good for an author of that age. By the way, what state does the author come from? ![]() |

![]() Why that would be Montana of course. If you know anything of Montana, he's from around Livingston . . . I think. But south central Montana. |

I really, really like Eragon. While their maybe a lot of traditional fantasy ideas, I thought the writing was reasonably ... modern in a way. I liked it and found it easy to read. I thought Arya as the "damsel in distress" was played out really, really well. (oh, I respect your opinion... I'm just bringing in mine. ![]() However, had she been male, Eragon's reaction to her would have been very different, and Arya wouldn't have been resuced. She turns out to have vitally important information, and gets Eragon to place where he is needed... and she's a formidable opponant, and generally perfectly capable of taking care of herself. i'm looking forward to the next one. |

Yes there is a newbie on here called Eragonshadeslayer(HI!)*Puffs out chest, smiles.THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE!!!! Eldest was supposed to come out last august. I do not agree with the damsel in distress thing-Arya had been intrusted with a dragon egg for pete's sake! Being ambushed by urgals and a shade, being drugged, posioned, and tortured so ruthlessly would leave anyone in need of rescue, if not dead.*Gives Elbrethsq a venemous look, then laughs evily ![]() |

I know - but still! I actually have a very radical and vehement viewpoints of damsels in distress. ![]() Sure, she was intrusted in the egg - but the whole plot encircles around saving Arya, despite whatever situation that threw her into that position. But then she seemed so helpless even after they saved her - and they had to bind her to the dragon and such. *gives Eragonshadeslayer a look for spelling "Elberethsq" wrong* *laughs*. J/k! I think . . . I wonder how much the books cost . . . ![]() |

![]() Sida will tell you that when I read Eragon I complained about it the entire time. I thought that it was too conventional, too predictable. I thought that the writing was OK, but I certainly commend Christopher Paolini for getting published at such a young age. It's very hard and time-consuming to write something of that length. |
