I was a the book store the other day and I saw this book called "Dragonology" and it had lots of cool things, but then I turned a page and it had a whole thing about the "Dragon Script" and it was Futhorc Writing from LotR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was sooooo mad!! I looked everywhere in the book for a copyright from the Tolkien company or whatever, but there was no copyright and it was exactly Futhorc Writing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone else seen this book?? I need to go to school and calm down. Bye! :bye2: :)

im pretty sure its not the exact same text, i have the book, and im sure it isnt the same, sure it might be similar but im sure its not the same. And ancient runes have been around for a very long time, people take inspiration from them every day to create their own scripts etc.

Hey, I said the same thing, too. I have a friend who got that book from her birthday, and though I know runes have been around for ages, these looked an awful lot like Tolkien's.

You may notice that a lot of things copy from LotR. I've played computer games that have nicked so many cultural/language aspects from LotR that it wasn't even funny (actually it was, and I was pretty indignant).

We can all agree that Tolkien laid the foundations for modern fantasy. Many fantasy authors nowadays fell in love with LotR before they ever started writing.
