Do you like fantasy books? Because I recently read the His Dark Materials trilogy and I really enjoyed it. I'm currenly going through all of Jane Austen't books, I'm on my 5th one now, they're always worth a read. What type of books are you interested in? ![]() |

Definately His Dark Materials Or the Temeraire series, if you like historical fantasy. The Twilight series seems to be popular. Abarat. A stunning series, with gorgeous paintings. I highly reccomend it. The Book Thief, even though it's not a series. It's amazing. |

I'm kinda into the Pern books by Anne McCaffrey at the moment, which are pretty good. Like Darky, I'd also recommend Temeraire (the first book of which is called His Majesty's Dragon, here). His Dark Materials didn't grab me particularly. Oooh, and Robin McKinley's fun (she's written The Hero and the Sword...Beauty...Rose Daughter...). Or Vivian Vande Velde, if you're more into sorta humorous stuff. Lots of things ![]() |

Ooh, Artemis Fowl is really really good. I got that for my birthday and I read it over and over and over. XD You should try it Mae! And then I just read this one recently, it's called The Alchemyst. It has Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel in it. Another great one! |

'Dragon Slippers' by Jessica Day George - really good, humorous, adventurous, and lovable characters. Also a tinny bit of sweet romance - Not much though. I highly recomend it. Also 'Fairest' by Gail Carson Levine. - First off, amazing author. Everything she writes is awesome. Perhaps I'm a bit childish like that - all fairy tales, but I love them all. A lovely, adventurous, slightly romantic tale of self-image. I highly recommend it also. ![]() Right now I'm reading 'Princess Academy' by Shannon Hale. Anyone else read it? Is it good? I'm only on the first chapter, currently. |

well the best serie I've ever seen is "The Dark Tower" by Stephen King, which is made up by 7 books. I love it, even if I've never found someone who read it to talk with...btw a good fantasy I've recently read is "Wizard's First Rule" by Terry Kind...and right now I'm reading the Earthsea serie. about non fantasy books, I read a very good book, "The Drowning People" by Richard Mason... |

Oh I remember that book! I borrowed it from my school library some years ago (when I actually had my library card, but that's another story) and I can definitely remember enjoying it. Although the names are lost to me now, I still have an idea of what the storyline is. It's a really sweet book SG, you should like it. |

I do really enjoy Fantasy stuff, but I read all types of books. I've been looking at the Artemis Fowl books in our library but I wasnt sure if they would be good or not! Thank you all for replying! I havent heard of the Temeraire books, but I will definitely look into them. I have read the Twilight series though, and they are WONDERFUL! If you havnt read them I definitely recomend them. |

The Temeraire series is an excellent series, I think. Dragons with Napoleoinc warfare...how more creative can you get? All the series that I liked are already mentioned so I'll recommend individual books. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett was very good. Any of the H.G. Wells books are highly recommended. Neverwhere and Stardust, both by Neil Gaiman were really interesting. If you kind of like historical drama, you will like Atlas Shrugged and/or The Fountainhead, both by Ayn Rand. And of course, His Dark Materials were my absolute favourites. They are really thought-provoking. |

Airborn by Kenneth Oppel is a really good adventure/slightly fantasy novel that I just reread for the fourth time, dealing with the concept that the Hindenburg airship had been successful. So airplanes were never needed, and airships are used instead. There's a whoooole lot more to it, but I won't give it all away. ![]() Inkheart is another good one, by Cornelia Funke. Eventually there's a movie coming out, but definitely read the book first because it's uber-good. It's about a 12-year-old girl named Meggie who lives peacefully with her bookbinding father Mo, until a mysterious man named Dustfinger shows up one night asking Mo for help. Again, can't give too many details without spoiling some of it...but take my word for it. Oh yeah, both of those have sequels (Skybreaker and Inkspell and there will be a third book in the Inkheart trilogy too.) Finally, I absolutely love a book series called Maximum Ride that's about 6 kids who've had avian DNA grafted into them, so they have wings and they can fly. They're on the run from the scientists who "created" them, and they're just trying to survive. This one's really really action-packed, like BAM-BAM-BAM one action scene after another. Oh, and if you don't like blood, I don't recommend you read these...these kids are also excellent fighters and stronger than top wrestlers. |

The Cry of the Icemark and Blade of Fire are really good. Some really rich mythology woven in. The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray. It's short, but amazing. Set in a sort of alternate London, it's really awesome. The Dream Merchant. It's long, and much better the second time through. But I reccomend it. The Bartimaeus Trilogy. One of the best book series. The Obsidian Trilogy. It's really good, and the books are long, so their good reads. |
