Northern Lights
A Subtle Knife
The Amber Spyglass.
by Phillip Pullman

Which was your favourite?
Who was your favourite Character?
What would YOUR dæmon be?!

Post here if you like these books.

I was thinking of doing a little quiz for this book, and making little awards for the winners. When I can thinking up enough questions, I shall do that... :)

I liked them. I think the Subtle Knife was my favourite. My favourite character, unfortunately, is Will. (*shudders at name* - please ignore me. Herenya's little phobia...) Lyra irritated me at times.

My daemon would be a bird, or probably a rabbit of sorts if I'm honest. A wolf would be cool, but I was so upset when Hester died, and I'm a rabbit person.

I know, I liked Hester too! She was so awesome...

I thought the first one was called the Golden Compass??? I'm pretty sure that's what it was called...

Anyways, I didn't like the last one because of the battle. I mean, he built up to it and the third book was a flop in my opinion. I expected it to be something bigger...oh well. The first two books were good, just the last one wasn't as great.

I don't know which one to chose, either the first or the second... Yeah, I didn't like Lyra because she annoyed me. Ugh... I thought Lord Asriel's daemon was kind of cool (the snow leopard, Stelmaria). I think my favorite character is Lee Scoresby, oh yeah, and his daemon, Hester.

These are some of my favourite books :)

And I cry every time I read it when Hestor and Lee die.

The first one is called both Northern Lights and The Golden Compass.
I'm not sure what my favourite one is - that's too difficult :confused2:

One of my favourite characters is Lee Sorsby. I also Iorek and Seraphina Pekkala.

And I'm not really sure what my daemon would be. Some kind of cat would be cool whether it was a big cat like a tiger or more of a pet cat size.

Yes, it is in America I believe, but if you check in the front is has mention that it was originally "Northern Lights". (I bought my copy overseas, only reason I figured that one out.)
Personally I like the Golden Compass cover better than the Northern Lights one.

And I forgot to mention that Iorek is my other favourite character. I can't believe I forgot him! He's cool. :bounce:

Yes, my favourite character is Lee Scorseby too, I love the way his dæmon is described, her beautiful eyes.
Lyra and Mary were my other favourite characters, and of course: Pantalaimon!

I think my dæmon would be something huge, like an elephant (oliphaunt ;) )

But I'd like it to me a lion. :D

I adore these books! When Lee Scoresby died I was soo upset.
He might be my favourite character. I liked Lord Asriel and Sereafina P. and of course Iorek.

Hm...My dæmon would be...Something fierce. A Tiger. :bones: Or a koala.

I like Northen Lights best - Will annoyed me a little. Eventually you just wanted him to get over himself.

But I liked Lyran alot, and Pantalaemon. Yes, I was very upset when Lee died as well, that was really upsetting. In fact, I liked all of the characters lots, even the evil ones, which I think is partially the reason it was so successful. Everone had a motive and a drive that was well explained and expressed which made it more believeable.

Oh, and Iorek was great.

Yes, rampagent killer koalas. They have a [local] reputation for being stupid, stubborn... and well able to defend themsleves.
Oh, yes, and they're supposedly explosive as well!

I was so upset, too!

I don't know what kind of daemon I would have. Maybe a bird... I definitely wouldn't want a dolphin (remember the sailor???) or any other marine life sort. I just thought it was sad that the sailor had to spend most of his life at sea, you know?

^ I know what you mean about the sailor. It'd be difficult having a marine-life daemon or even one that flies alot.

I'd like something beautiful and powerful and mysterious like maybe a panther? But knowing me I'd probably end up with something like a ferret instead... but it'd be an aggressive ferret! They have very sharp teeth!

:duh:

my favorite is the Subtle Knife and my favorite character is Will. I don't mind Lyra but I can't help but think of her as a little girl. I wish I could have a tiger daemon, or maybe an eagle.

My favourite in this trilogy is Northern Lights. Didn't like the last one much, and didn't care much for the second either. Liked Northern Lights though :-D

I love His Dark Materials!
My favourite would have to be The Amber Spyglass although i love them all. :)
Hmm... surprisingly i haven't thought what my daemon would be yet.
Probably something like a cat... or a leopard *shrugs*, I think that'd be pretty cool. But i think i'd prefer for my daemon to be able to change constantly even when i was old... that'd be so cool! 8)
:)
