I didn't feel that there was that much animosity between Mrs. Coulter and Lord Asriel. Quite frankly, I didn't think there was any animosity at all. I didn't pick up on that! Right now I'm dreadfully confused, because I'm on page 120 something ? And I didn't think Lord Asriel had anything directly with Mrs. Coulter until John Faa explained it to Lyra.
Geez!
And I kind of like how the Master treats Lyra, but then he tried to poisoned Lord Asriel!
I'm just confused.

Well, go re-read the Lord of the Rings series. 
Question---do we see the Master of Jordan College again? And do they explain why he attempted to poison Lord Asriel?

Well, if Asriel was going to start a mega-war and throw everything into the mix, and kill an innocent child, and endanger many more, whould you try to poison him?
Anyway,
Yes, His Dark Materials is one of my most beloved series. Personally, I like the Golden Compass and the Amber Spyglass best, b/c there is a ton of character revelation in them, and the way the worlds are parelell, Dust, etc.
My faveourite character would probably be Iorek Byrnison. Panserbjorn ROCK!
Daemon? Erm, I'd like an Eagle, but I'd probably be a large dog, b/c I like order and someone to assign me a task and deadline, then let me go to town on it. ( as in idae of it, I wrote a 22 page short stroy in 2 weeks for Language Arts class.) However, I'm not completely subserviant. Maybe a Wolf or something similiar.
