Has anyone read the Echanted Forest series by Patricia C. Wrede? I love these books! I can't even count how many times I've read them. I love Morwen and all her cats. Especially Trouble. The characters have such a good sense of humor and I like the fact that they're all being 'sensible' and kind of rebelling against the 'damsel in distress' princess stories. She takes all of the classic fairy tales like Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Princess and the Pea and so on and mentions them in the stories. I really love her writing style!

I read these just a few years ago and found them to be hysterical, but also thought there were some interesting ideas in them as well. The forest-bound magic reminded me a lot of Captain Britain from Marvel comics. I liked it.

OHMYGOODNESS! I absolutely adore the Enchanted Forest Chronicles. I can't say how many times I've read them. Tons. I remember reading them all the time during Middle School, my librarian judged me, "Didn't you read these books 2 months ago?" So. What. They're fantastic and so much fun to read. I love Patricia C. Wrede. I recently came across them while I've been packing and I was so tempted to re-read them again.

Anyway, Morwen is awesome and so is Willin. I'm not sure why I love Willin so much, but, I do. He's just so prim and proper.

Oh my goodness I ADORE this series!! My mom read them to me and I've been dying to reread them now that I'm older. I love how they turned the traditional fairy tale/dragons concept on its head, and the witty humor in them was brilliant. Cimorene and Mendenbar might have been the first couple in a book series I really "shipped"--they suited each other so well!

Absolutely. They're technically middle-grade books (although they were written before middle-grade was an official genre so I've always seen them classified as children's books). I was a more advanced reader so I tackled them with my mom when I was nine or so. I would definitely recommend them!
