Oh, hahaha. I have a hard time understanding Heart of Darkness and English is my first language. XD
I've seen Canavan's books in shops, and wondered how they were. How do they compare to more well-known series?

It's hard to like the main female characters but they are good read At the other hand it's hard to not like main male characters. I guess they are rather lightharted, maybe not as much as The Hobbit but still ^^

Jurassic Park. If you're a fan of the movies you should give the book a read. It's radically different. Most of the characters are different too. Like, John Hammond isn't at all the lovable character he is in the film, neither is Ian Malcolm. I love it, because even though I've seen the films too many times to count the book is a new experience.

I guess I might be a bit old for them (I have seen kids as young as 2nd graders reading them) but it seems like the second series, Heroes of Olympus, is directed at slightly older kids than the first series. I am trying to convince everyone I know to read Ender's Game. It is a fantastic book. Also, has anyone here read Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy? It is so funny, you will laugh for ages.

^^ I'm gonna read Ender's Game and Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy as soon as possible. But I need to wait a bit 'cause they aren't in my library right now.
I just read Reached by Ally Condie. It's so fantastic book, I must read it twice.. and then again..

One of the weirdest books I've read so far, but also extremely funny and likeable Two of my favorite book series to recommend to anyone who loves fantasy would be the Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss, and the Farseer/Liveship Traders/Fool Trilogy (that's actually three different trilogies) by Robin Hobb. They are all classical fantasy: storyline in a fictional world and indications or hints of magic. Both writers excel in describing settings, places and characters, which makes it feel real. And Kvothe and Fitz are two of my favorite literary characters

Any one else read these books by Andrew Peterson? They are great books in my opinion! (All 4)

I have REALLY been wanting to re-read that book lately. It was by far my favorite book.

It's amazing, isn't it? It's complicated, yes, but that's my favorite type of book

Yes, it is amazing!
Exactly! It was the complication of it that kept my attention soooo well.
My biggest mistake was going from that to the Hobbit... I couldn't finish the hobbit. It was like I was on this literary high after reading the Silmarilion and the hobbit just didn't cut it. lol

Haha, yeah that would be a little strange. From Balrogs to wimpy goblins I have yet to read something new...I have a feeling whatever I read next won't be anywhere near as good

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Anyone who has watched the Tim Burton film, it's worth reading the book. I did find it a tad more preachy, than the film though. Still worth a read. Also, Matilda. I read that book a few years ago, but it's still a good book. Adds insights that the film missed out on.

Yeah it was a little strange Emma
I can relate to that. The Silmarilion is just hard to top.

Roald Dahl's books are wonderful, and still enjoyable to read as an adult. I just read "the Rosie Project", a very nice story about a man with a diagnosis of autism who wants to find a wife. He tries to approach it in a very scientific manner, but slowly comes to realise that his world view is not always adaptable for other people. It's surprising, it's cute and it's very easy to read, and it's nothing like you've ever read before
