Hello all Fantasy lovers!!!!!!!!The book I am about to reveal to you I think is one of the best fantasy books you will ever read!!!!(Besides lotr). The book is........drumroll please........Sabriel by Garth Nix.
Short Summary:Sabriel must leave the protection of Wyverly College to find her father, the Abhorsen who is somewhere imprisoned far in Death by the evil Free Magic creature Kerrigor. Accompanied by Mogget, a Free Magic cat, bound to her service by an ancient binding spell, and Touchstone Sabriel soon comes to find her true destiny.
Please note that this isn't a Harry Potter kind of book, it is more for Adult or Young Adult readers. (Not to say that HP isn't an adult book either.)
This book is somewhat confusing and maybe boring at the begining but please stick with it because it does get very exciting!!!!
There are two sequels to Sabriel;Lirael:Daughter of the Clayr and Abhorsen. Currently I am reading Abhorsen.
If you have comments about the book fell free to post anything you wish to say.

I just picked Sabriel up at the library..Great. Now I know Abhorsen is her father. :bounce:

I left the book in my locker and it was Finals, so I only read the Prolouge.
With the Baptism and such. Seems really good so far.

I love these books. I was crying my heart out at the end of Abhorsen. I don't know why, but I thought that Lirael and Abhorsen were better than Sabriel. Maybe I just don't like prequels.

I loved Abhorsen the most, Sabriel was good too............I was crying at the end of Abhorsen too........I thought I was like the only one who would do that.........I thought it was sad. My friend was reading it too, but she gave up after reading Lirael........she told me it was boring. I loved it.

Garth Nix is an excellent writer! I love Sabriel and the others in the series....
I think they should make a movie of Sabriel, it would be awesome! :-D

The Old Kingdom trilogy is indeed excellent - I would recommend it to just about any fantasy lover! It's very unique and original and the characters are very easy to sympathise with and care about.

*points to signature* I love Sabriel!! It is quite possibly the best book I have ever read - even above LotR! It's my favourite out of the three (Sabriel, Lirael and Abhorsen) so far!
I've currently just finished reading Lirael, and am trying to find Abhorsen to read.
I love Mogget!

Yush it is very beautiful and has an excellent quote. I liked Lirael best - but just because I'm a librarian part-time and I think we should all be given swords!

:)

Sabriel is an amazing book! One day I just picked it up at the bookstore and read the back....It actually sounded confusing but I love fantasy so I bought it. I'm so glad I did...it's a fantasy world like no other. Touchstone is my favorite character so I like Sabriel the best....but Nicholas Saere is probably my second favorite character. ( In Abhorsen)

I've always wanted to read those books. They've always caught my eye in the bookstore.

*leaves to reseve books on her library website* :bye:

I saw the book when I went to the library today! It looks kind of long, and I've never read any of the author's works, so I didn't borrow it. Perhaps I should. It sounds (somewhat) interesting. :bye2:
