Thought it might be kind of fun to take a trip down memory lane and remember our favorite books as a kid, or any books that you might still own that you set aside to read to your own children one day.

For me, one of my favorites was Disney's version of Winnie the Pooh stories, I think I literally picked that book almost every night before bed. I have a huge box of Disney books stored in my closet, actually. Another big one for me was 'My Father's Dragon', it was so cute and fun, I definitely have that one stored in a safe place! And of course, I saved all of my 'Wishbone' books.

I actually never read Where The Wild Things Are. I'm starting to think I'm the only person who didn't as a kid...

Harry Potter (well, obviously :teehee: )
The Edge Chronicles (ok, I started reading them when I was 9 and kept up with the ones being published when I was a teenager but they were still amazing)
The Little Miss and the Mr Men books. :p
Horrible Histories!

About 5 years ago we had a massive clear out which involved chucking out hundreds of books and I was made to get rid of most of my children's books. There are other books that I loved but I can't remember what they were called and I can't go to the bookcase to check because they've gone :(

The American Girl series! Those were huge for me. Of course, when I was younger there were 5? 6? Now there are tons. But I read all the originals.

Anne of Green Gables (of course, I do still read those now....Gilbert Blythe)
and, my favorite book from when I was younger...
The Westing Game
I remember loving that book so much. So much so that I would still talk about it to people a decade after reading it. And then I found it at a used book store. It's still as wonderful as it was back then.

I loved those books! I managed to save them from the great chucking out. They're up in the loft :(

Along with all my Redwall books which are another series I loved.

Oh dear, books, I loved (still do) reading when I was little.

I remember one of the first books I read was Make Way for Ducklings. I think my enormous love for ducks hatched from reading this book.

Also, The Enchanted Forest Chronicles really stands out as books I would read tons of times (heck, I should go reread those).

Hey! Me too! Me too! I didn't read Where the Wild Things Are until I was much older! In fact, I was baby-sitting my cousin when I finally read it...I was...probably around 17...

Hmm... when I was younger my favorite books were the phantom stallion series and the horsefeathers series.

I mainly stuck to Disney books and fairytales as a kid, so that may be why I never read WTWTA. OH! How could I forget my Thomas the Tank Engine book, I have that one stored away too.

To me childhood books is like, age 2-5, more like what someone read to me and with me than me reading myself. As for older than that, I read my first Stephen King book when I was 7 (it took me forever to get through though, for obvious reasons) and I was hooked ever since. Also Hardy Boys books - love! I collect them now and buy a new one whenever I see 'em in antique stores or so. I've got 30 at this point. I *think*, most of them are at my mum's. I also loved Famous Five.

I never had a person to read for me except my grandfather. I read my favorite books when I was 4 (comics) and by the age of 10 Shakespeare and horror books.
