One of my favorite books. The next one was also good, but after that the books lost momentum and became boring :(

Oh, such funny books! I read them aloud to the younger kids in my school carpool and everyone (including the driver) loved it! A bit of editing was needed, but it was worth it.

Arg! Not Vogon poetry! NOOO!!!!! :explode:

Anyways, I love Hitchhiker's! I've only read the first one, but I will probably read the rest eventually. I can't stand the thought of not finishing the series.

My favorite characters are Marvin and Arthur Dent (I feel kind of sorry for him!)

I have read all the books, and they are all downright hysterical! Marvin has to be the best character:

"I got very bored and depressed, so I went and plugged myself into the ship's external computer feed. I talked to the computer at great length, and explained my view of the universe to it, " said Marvin.
"And what happened?" pressed Ford.
"It committed suicide," said Marvin.

"The first ten million years were the worst. The second ten million? They were the worst too. The third ten million I didn't enjoy at all. After that I went into a bit of a decline"

"Life... don't talk to me about life."

"Why should I want to make anything up? Life's bad enough as it is without trying to invent any more of it."

"Life. Whether you hate it or loath it, you can't love it."

I was so annoyed at So Long and Thanks for all the Fish because Zaphod wasn't in it. I didn't read Mostly Harmless, don't ask me why.
But I loved the others! They're great!

"well, honey, who do you think you are, Zaphod Beeblebrox or something?"
"Count the heads"
"do you mean to say you are Zaphod Beeblebrox?"
"yes"
"the zaphod beeblebrox?"
"no, just a zaphod beeblebrox. Didn't you hear I come in six pack?"

"my body doesn't even see me anymore. it says I inhibit it. I pointed out that I was meant to inhabit it, and it said that was the sort of smart-alec remark that got right up a body's left nostril." :bounce:

Heheh, I love Douglas Adams' books :) I've only read the first two books of the Hitchhikers series, but they're great! I love Zaphod's sunglasses that turn black whenever trouble appears, and the robot that gets so mad that Marvin wasn't armed by his owners that it blows a hole in the floor and smashes itself. Heehee...I'll have to read the other books sometime, but I haven't gotten around to them yet.

It's not! :p I tested it out by NOT using Internet Explorer 6 or whatever it says and it didn't detect that I was instead using opera...

Anyone read "The Salmon of Doubt"? I was listening to "Young Zaphod plays it safe" this morning (I have the audio book) and trying very hard not to laugh because I was sitting on a train... :) "And you spend the next six months thinking about lobsters..."
