I tried to read the book, but for some reason it didn't grip me. The film made me cry! It's so well filmed, and well, it fits in with my schools curriculum for WW2.

It sounds interesting. Is it sad? I probably should check the book out, but can you tell me the author? Hmmm. . . But you say it's hard to understand it, and because I have little patience many times, I guess it's not that appealing to me. I tend to like more direct, easy-to-understand literature.

In Thomas Keneally's Schindler's List, one man struggles against the potent ignorance of a society to hinder the demise of the Jewish population. His name was Oskar Schindler, who was of German descent. During World War II, German soldiers were in need of war supplies, resulting in the creation of Schindler's Deutsche Emailwaren Fabrik (German Enamelware Factory). At the same time, thousands of Jews were isolated from society and executed due to their race. So Schindler changes the names and working status of hundreds of Jews so the German army will spare their lives for their war efforts. In one instance, Schindler and Ithsak Stern, a Jewish accountant, create fake resumÈs for them to show their eligibility to work in Schindler's factory as metal pressers. Throughout the book, Schindler chooses Jews fit to work in his factory. However, he begins to buy Jews from Herr Commandant Amon Goethe, the dictator of Jews in that area, when he realizes the devastation of the Holocaust. After the war, Schindler must make a crucial decision; the key to unlock his imprisonment or the key to lock up his existence.
Schindler's List is a compelling and emotional book due to its reality. This work opens the hearts of its readers, leaving them pondering the significance and tragedy of Germany during the war. It arouses interest, grasping both mind and heart to unveil life's mysteries. Man's ignorance to society's norms provokes controversy over how one could steal the life of another with no more than a shudder. Schindler's List also offers its readers the knowledge of sacrifice and turmoil of the Holocaust, as does The Diary of Anne Frank. I highly recommend this book to anyone to broaden their awareness of the value of life

Here is a summary of the book. I thought it was sad........made me cry.

Well, I saw the DVD when I went to the store yesterday. But I was pretty not interested in it because I was attracted to the LotR DVDs sitting next to it. I walked out of the store with a brand new TTT. :bye2:
