I was wondering whats your favourite Genre.
I don't know if this sounds shallow but I like Romance Comedies.
So if you like a specific genre(s) or know anyone who likes a strange genre of story, thsi is for you!
Also do you think that people who I like different Genre of books get a long better? I'd really like to know you're views on this subject.

Mostly I like fantasy/science fiction. I love authors like Ursula K. Le Guin, Madeleine L'Engle, Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Douglas Adams, Brian Jacques. I also enjoy some classics. I also enjoy some books on religion. It depends on the author though...John Eldredge and Donald Miller are two of my favourites in addition to C.S. Lewis. I like some non-ficiton too, mainly if it's about history.

I love fiction, though an occasional non-fiction is alright. I tend to go for the mystery books, books that make you think or keep you on reading until your finished witht the book.

I love reading mysteries, thrillers and books that touch on the whole time travelling thing with a little magic in them. I also love the children's books by Astrid Lindgren (Ronia the Robber's Daughter, Brothers Lionheart and Mio My Son especially).
My all-time favorite author would be Maria Gripe though. Her books are a mix of supernatural, mystery and enchantment. If you ever get your hands on "Agnes Cecilia", read it!
Synopsis here:
Quote: From Publishers Weekly Supernatural forces begin to surround Nora when she and the family that has taken care of her since her parents' tragic death years before move to a strange, old apartment. Guided by dreams, mysteriously revealed messages in a book of folklore, odd coincidences and the proddings of Dag, the boy she has grown up with, Nora is led to a toy repair shop where she is given a beautiful old doll that seems almost alive. But Nora's ultimate destination, and the purpose of her journey, are shrouded in mystery. Incident follows incident and suspense mounts as a generations-old puzzle begins to unravel. Agnes Cecilia is a first-rate mystery, a precise, warm-hearted psychological study and a remarkably original ghost story wrapped up in one thoroughly engrossing book. Ages 12-up. Copyright 1990 Reed Business Information, Inc.
From School Library Journal Grade 6 Up-- A believable ghost story that is intriguing and suspenseful, set in Sweden. Nora, whose parents were killed in an automobile accident, lives with her aunt, uncle, and cousin. Feelings of abandonment and of being an outsider are with her constantly. Now the family has moved into an old home that they are restoring, and Nora feels that a spirit from another time is trying to reach her. A message is passed to her, and she is told to go to an old doll shop in Stockholm, where she is given Agnes Cecilia, an oddly lifelike doll. Nora's cousin Dag's theory that it is logical to presume that we have much more to understand in this world than has been proven increases readers' acceptance of the spirit world represented here. The unfolding of the mystery of Nora's own heritage is inseparably linked to the unfolding of the mystery of the doll, and interwoven are Nora's discoveries about her own self and her place in the family. At the heart of events is a hard look at how much children need to feel wanted. Even as Nora discovers how much her adopted family includes her in their lives and hearts, the story of her predecessors makes it clear that many children are not as fortunate. This is a marvelous story, rich and rewarding. Characters from the past are as vivid as the ones from the present. Linking the supernatural events to the emotions of the characters offers readers an unusual perspective for thinking about some important ethical questions without ever supplanting the ghost story. --Carol A. Edwards, East Central Regional Library, Cambridge, MN Copyright 1990 Reed Business Information, Inc.

I'll read some science fiction, quite a bit of fantasy, historical romance, sagas, young adult, murder mysteries (though not modern ones), historical, World war stories, children's literature, some classics, and, ah, other random stuff. I read a lot of genres, I guess.

The only genres I don't like are crime, thrillers and horror. Apart from that I'll read anything as long as it's well written and has interesting characters and plot. I don't think that genre's that important.

I like reading fantasy or history books the most. I love the feeling of walking into another world, while I am reading that book

Like Elanor, I like most genres, as long as the book is well-written and the characters are interesting and I can relate to them. Though I will admit that I do like some books that aren't very well written... but in general, I prefer that they are.

some historical
and i dont know why but i love books that make me think and i love books that make me cry. it feels good after you finish a book that you've cried about. (really sounds odd doesnt it?)

Oooh, favourite genres! I adore mysteries, romance, comedy, classics, thriller, action/adventure (is there a difference between those two?) and crime. I don't like horror, because, well, I don't like being scared.
But, they have to be well written, which is why I'll never be a successful writer.
