I made the effort to scroll back through the previous pages here (which is where I found the threads I commented about off-the-cuff), but I didn’t really find a favorite authors thread. Besides J.R.R. Tolkien and The Lord of The Rings, I find it difficult to name books in any ranking (I’m extremely skeptical about rankings as they are proliferating on TV and in the press, anyway). Besides which, fiction is a small minority in our library. So I’ll go by fiction authors whose works I have enjoyed. 1. JRRT (LoTR) Douglas Adams Arthur C. Clarke Paul C. Doherty (penname Paul Harding in Germany) Jack London Edgar Allan Poe Thomas Mann Salman Rushdie Akif Pirinçci Heinrich Böll Karl May |
