I am really digging the laid back, open minded attitude to pretty much everything.
Don't see me doing the nekkid thing...I'd not want to scare people

Hmm..dunno where this dude was getting his info from then. Read it on some Pagan forum thing on MySpace.
I trust you and your answer. Thanks for that. I appreciate it.

As for the holiday thing. I think that's why I get a bit moody/stroppy around times like Yule. I know I shouldn't..but there's just this part of me that just gets tense.
I'll say no more. Don't wanna run the risk of offending anyone.

lol talk about wandering off course.

Aww well Sweden is a great place to live. I mean of course, like any place it has its flaws, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world but here.

You know, I might have it all wrong as well, so who knows maybe that guy knew what he was talking about? After all, like I said most people who do practice their Asatru faith aren't exactly out in the streets screaming about it, so there might be more followers than I know. LoL it's not like we walk around naked either, but we don't have a problem with it being shown on TV or in General/Universal rated movies.

I also agree with Raivynn!I want to live there too.The openess thing sounds great, because in here, some people can be very racist and ignorant :annoyed2: Sweden sounds like a good place to live :D Lucky Erulissë!

Aww that's cool, thank you :) I do consider myself lucky, especially when you hear or read about other people's home situations or even the way they were brought up by their parents or society. You guys should come over. We've got room for everybody in our big old house :D

lol I love Norway. Norway and Sweden are very much alike, both in nature and culture. I love to speak Norwegian hehe. Such a happy, cheerful, cute language.

Oh yeah I imagine it will have it's flaws. But it seems like Sweden (and Norway) are really pleasant laid back places to live and I could see myself really settling there. To live in the country of my ancestors is something I can't even describe what it would mean to me.

Well..I guess it's not something you shout from the rooftops. I know I don't. For me it's a very personal thing as I imagine it is for some others.

Sorry about the nekkid thing..I was trying to be all funny and I fell on my face with that one lol

Well Norwegian and Swedish are very very similar. I don't know every single word in Norwegian but I know many of them and I can speak with the accent they have. If someone writes a text in Norwegian for me to read I will probably be able to fully understand 95-99% of what's written. If someone speaks Norwegian to me I'll probably be able to fully understand 75-80% of what's said. If someone writes a text in Danish for me to read I will probably be able to fully understand 95-99% of what's written but if someone speaks Danish to me I'll probably be able to fully understand 40-60% of what's said lol.

Yeah Eru. Way back when I was very very young (about 8 or 9 I think) my mum and dad got a thing done for there anniversary that traced our ancestors all the way back to Norway. I've always loved Viking myths and legends from a young age too. Since doing a class excercise on them.
That was something that never left me.
2 years ago I was struggling on my Pagan path...nothing seemed to make sense to me anymore, no philosophy seemed to hit home or feel right.
I looked into Asatru and it all fell into place and I've never looked back.
:)

You and Melkor have Scottish ancestors. That rocks. I really love being Scottish. I'm very proud of my roots both Viking and Scot.

Aw man..now I'm gushing. lol

That's really cool.

Yeah I've always loved the Viking myths and legends as well. We first studied them when I was in 4th grade and I absolutely loved it. I was a scout when I was a kid (like boyscouts or girlscouts although in Sweden boys and girls are together) and even our patrol were named after the Gods (Oden, Tor, Ymer and Freja) hehe. I thought that was so cool.

I've been reading alot about Asatru and like you said, it all falls into place. Only as a life philosophy though since I don't actually believe in any higher power - at least not yet anyways. I see the Gods as more of a symbolism of nature and its powers. The coolest thing about Asatru is that there are no rules as to what you must believe in order to be a follower, there is no book telling you how to live your life or how you must practice your faith.

Exactly. Yes there are Redes of honor but they're more like common sense guidelines. Modern day Asatru is really great in that most Hearths will welcome anyone of any age, sex, gender ect. No-one is discriminated against so long as they are true to the Aesir and the Old Ways, that is commitment enough.

This is awesome, I don't normally have anyone I can talk to about this that kinda gets where I'm coming from. I don't know anyone else that is as interested in Asatru as I am.
