Pink Floyd simply put are one of, if not the greatest band to ever grace this planet with their presence.
The early stuff was true pyschadelic rock, songs like Bike, Intestella Overdive, Cymbaline, Carefull With That Axe Eugine etc etc.
Jump forward to Meddle and they began to turn into more recognisable Pink Floyd, the song Echoes being the major indication of this. Possibly the best song in world.
Dark Side Of The Moon is superb. One of the first real concept albums, and still one of the best. Songs about how life can be utterly deppressing sometimes, life ruled by money and time.
Wish You Were Here again is a brilliant album, song epic songs such as Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Welcome To The Machine,Have A Cigar and Wish You Were Here (Wait ... thats the whole album). Wish You Were Here is a truely beautiful song, simple melody and fantastic lyrics.
Animals is yet another fantastic concept album, describing the three sets of people, Sheep, Dogs and Pigs that can be found in the world. Sheep of course going with the flow, blindly obeying, Dogs enforcing the law and Pigs feeding off the poor. Always reminds me of Animal Farm by George Orwell.
Then the master piece that is the Wall. An absolute block of gold encrusted with gems and jewls. The most famous songs of course sent them into legendary status, Comfortably Numb, Another Brick In The Wall, Run Like Hell. But other songs are easily forgotten that I love to this day, One Of My Turns, Goodbye Blue Sky, Hey You, The Trial. All fantastic. The album is awsome, a brilliant story which the film made for it reveals so well.
The third part of The Wall, The Final Cut, is also good but often criticised, in my opninion because it is difficult to follow up an album like The Wall. I think if they had brought Dark Side out after The Wall it would have struggled.
The last few albums like Division Bell were good, but they have nothing on the golden era of Floyd, from Meddle to The Wall.
My favourite album? Probably Meddle or Wish You Were Here.
Favourite song? Echoes or Breathe

The Wall is an amazing film... It was a little overwhelming emotionally for me, seeing as I wasn't quite...me at the time I saw it, but I was definitely very impressed. I think that Dark Side of the Moon is definitely one of the best albums of all time... hands down.

I did a simple search for any Pink Floyd threads and this was the result. I don't know if there are other threads but I'd try to revive a Pink Floyd Discussion.
I only knew Another Brick in the Wall for a long time but then I listened to other songs which I really liked:
Comfortably Numb
Wish You Were Here
US and Then
And also Money and Time
I just got Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall and am looking forward to listening to them!!

I've been in an insane Pink Floyd mood lately. Probably because I rediscovered my Dark Side CD. I thought it was weird when I was younger but I've finally grown to like it.
Oh yah, my parents saw The Wall (movie) as their second date, if that doesn't age them....

That's neat! I stole my dad's Pink Floyd cd. I have one out in the barn and another in the house, so if I want to listen to Pink Floyd I don't have to go very far!

In the barn?? lol
Glad to see I'm not the only Pink Floyd fan around. I'm loving Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd must be my summer fling this year. It fits my mood - and the weather - so well!
What are your favorite songs/albums?

My favorite song ever is Wish You Were Here. I'm a sucker for acoustic songs, and the guitar is just beautiful. I think the lyrics are what really pull me into the song though. It's corny, but that song makes me think about life and sorta puts things in perspective for me.
My favorite Floyd songs in general are probably Time, Hey You, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, and the before mentioned Wish You Were Here. I think I like Pink Floyd so much because the music is really emotional. I can't just sit and listen to it and not feel anything. I'm glad I'm not the only Floyd fan out here! I haven't met anyone my age who likes them.

Awww good songs you both are mentioning. I'm currently listening to The Wall. I think Dark Side of the Moon might still be my favorite.
I like how they use all those classical instruments in the songs. It's so comfortable to listen to.
