The leather is sturdy but not too link thick, so it moves easily through the hardware. It operates on friction, so there are no holes to deal with. My wrist is only 6.5 inches but it managed link to fit it snugly and the extra loop of leather at the end securely held the reserve length of strap. Some watches have too much reserve and I appreciated that this link one did not.
