Ah, I saw the new Producers film, and I really didn't like it, sorry! :P Not my kind of musical, I suppose.

I recently rented Chicago, and loved it! The music more than the actual acting...lol. Then I had to go out and buy the soundtrack, so classic! :D

I don't know if I mentioned "Chicago" or "Phantom Of The Opera". But I love them as well. I wish I'd had a chance to see them on the stage. They'd be AMAZING. My university theatre put on "Bat Boy" which I worked on...and was, well, rather interesting. I recommend it though. If any of you get a chance to listen to the music...or see it, you should. When I went to see a run through (just as a tech) by the end I was in tears from laughing so hard. SOOO bizarre! And then they also put on "Peter Pan" which was AMAZING!!! I didn't get to work on it....I wish I had. But that was the first time I'd see it on stage. SO beautiful. And of course, I love the Disney version. Ha ha ha.

I saw that you guys were talking about "The Producers" and I just saw the new film version. I have to say I LOOVED it!! Ha ha ha. Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane are always amazing. :bounce: I wish I could have seen it on Broadway or on any stage. It was brilliant, I don't think I've laughed that hard in a LONG time. Absolutely brilliant!

oh yes, the Producers is really just awesomely bad, it's hilarious. I've seen a few videos on the internet of the broadway production, and it's great too, maybe even funnier :-D

and I'm sure PotO would have been AMAZING on stage....

I finally found the program I got from the play! I know it was a while ago when you asked but Earl Carpenter was phantom number 1 and Matthew Cammelle was the standby one.

^Ooh, you are so lucky! A company called Broadway Across Canada is touring Phantom of the Opera and The Producers this year, and I was able to go to PotO in my city on Sept 1st. I LOVED it, soooo much! In fact, I managed to talk my mother into taking me again, on the last night, next Sunday, on the floor this timd :D I'm super excited, and it is definitely one you HAVE to go see in NYC or London :bounce:

I'm kind of not too sure about this whole Legally Blonde musical thing. Its perkiness is a little too much for me...

Oh musicals... gotta love 'em!

Let's see here... One of my all-time favorites is Fiddler on the Roof, and I also like The Sound of Music. My current musical obsession is Wicked. :)

Musicals: Fun to watch, but more enjoyable starring in them.

My Favorites: Sound of music, Fiddler on the roof(I was in a production of it), Titanic: A new musical (production I was in), Cheaper by the dozen, Annie, Oliver Twist,(Another production I was in)... I can't think of anymore at the moment. :speech:

I've seen a few musicals on stage, mainly in the West End but one in Birmingham..

Lord of the Rings Musical: Absolutely amazing... :D Seen it twice...

Spamalot: Hilarious. I cannot wait for it to go on UK tour next year as I can't afford to go see it in London again... :( "His...name...is Lancelot! And in tight pants a lot, He likes to dance a lot...."

Phantom of the Opera: Quite possibly the most wasted 2 hours of my life.... It was absolutely awful! Unfortunately I was forced to sit through it as I was on a college trip otherwise I would have walked out... Words fail me, I cannot actually describe how rubbish it was.... At one point I wanted to rip my ears off and gorge my eyes out so I didn't have to be tortured anymore... :storm: :explode:

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: It was good. Very good. The singing and acting was so much better than PotO and this was in Birmingham whereas PotO was on the West End. I liked it a lot. :D

And this wasn't a musical but I saw a really, really good opera at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden 4 years ago. But I can't remember the name of it but it was amazing... :D

As for films...
Jungle Book and Lion King 1 and 2 are the best. Hands down. Amazing... :D
I love Moulin Rouge :D And Ewan McGregor is so much fitter in the flesh... (I saw him in Othello in London at the beginning of the year - part of the college trip... He slightly made up for the awfulness of PotO. And his daughter was there! And Natalie Portman! Who had rather greasy hair... )

I've seen loads of musicals - mainly by amateur companies, but usually they are top notch in their own right (although I have seen some stinkers but that's another story!).

I live about 2 1/2 hours drive from London, so when I can afford it, I go to see a West End Show. We have a company here called Ticketline that organizes coach trips with tickets included so it is all very convenient. They even do a 2 for 1 show deal so you stay in London over night and see 2 shows for the price of one. The last one I did was Wicked and Phantom of the Opera - very good value. It's allowed me to see loads of shows over the years including Les Miz (8 times!), Miss Saigon, We Will Rock You, Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins, as well as both Wicked and Phantom twice.

Cardiff now has the Millennium Centre - with a massive theatre that allows the touring musicals to come - so I now see more professional productions than I used to, the last being The Producers! I'm hoping to see Witches of Eastwick in the spring as well.
