yeah, it came to me weirdly, it was a day i was traveling, i decided to listen to music and read at the same time...i chose the return of the king, and a Led Zeppelin CD (IV) i was listening to the battle of evermore over and over again because i wanted to learn it, so i set to reading and after i while i read and heard the same word, now it wasnt the usual "and" or "the" it was one only found in tolkien books "ringwraith" so i went nuts and printed the lyrics, turns out Led Zeppelin(the whole band) ...they were all fans of LotR...HA

okay so let me introduce the lyrics to you

Queen of Light took her bow, And then she turned to go,
The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom, And walked the night alone.

Oh, dance in the dark of night, Sing to the morning light.
The dark Lord rides in force tonight, And time will tell us all.

Oh, throw down your plow and hoe, Rest not to lock your homes.

Side by side we wait the might of the darkest of them all.

I hear the horses' thunder down in the valley below,
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon, waiting for the eastern glow.

The apples of the valley hold, The seeds of happiness,
The ground is rich from tender care, Repay, do not forget, no, no.
Dance in the dark of night, sing to the morning light.

The apples turn to brown and black, The tyrant's face is red.

Oh war is the common plight, Pick up your swords and fight.
The sky is filled with good and bad that mortals never know.

Oh, well, the night is long, the beads of time pass slow,
Tired eyes on the sunrise, waiting for the eastern glow.

The pain of war cannot exceed the woe of aftermath,
The drums will shake the castle wall, the ringwraiths ride in black, Ride on.

Sing as you raise your bow, shoot straighter than before.
No comfort has the fire at night that lights the face so cold.

Oh dance in the dark of night, Sing to the morning light.
The magic runes are writ in gold to bring the balance back. Bring it back.

At last the sun is shining, The clouds of blue roll by,
With flames from the dragon of darkness, the sunlight blinds his eyes.

Ooh, Bring it back, Bring it back...

Actually, I didn't know about this before! I do like Led Zeppelin, but I'm not such a crazed fan that I've read up on them or anything, so I didn't know that they were LOTR fans. And I have heard that song before, but I don't think I ever realized it was about LOTR. This is cool. Thanks for sharing Mornie Utulie!

I remember when I was growing up my dad would play Led Zepplin "IV" all the time, and he has a bad habit of retelling stories so he would continually tell me about how this album was all about Lord of the Rings etc, it's pretty nifty...like the song "Misty Mountain Hop"couldn't be more apparent than that....:teehee:

Anyways, I love that Led Zepplin album, it's wonderful! Yay for artists inspired by LotR

I was a Led Zeppelin fan before I ever heard of J.R.R. Tolkien or Moddle Earth. In listening to LZII back in the day, 'Ramble On' had a verse ...
Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.
How years ago in days of old, when magic filled the air.
T'was in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair.
But Gollum, and the evil one crept up and slipped away with her, her, her....yeah.

That I thought sounded cool but I had no idea what it was referring to. It wasn't until later when listening to LZIV and Battle of Evermore when I was reading Lord of the Rings for the first time that it all fell in together.
