 Post subject: Music Emotional?
PostPosted: January 1st, 2007, 7:12 pm

The other day, I said to my sister that Music makes me cry sometimes. She said that was dumb, and she could not possibly see why someone would cry while listening to music, and, which I titally disagree with her on the subject.

Anyone else like me? where you've listened to such a beautiful or depressing piece of music that has made you cry a little bit?

I do that all the time! Especially when I'm feeling sad or depressed or something like that.

Music is very emotional.
It can make me laugh, cry, get angry, depressed, happy, hyper..every emotion you can think of.

I also do a lot of (sometimes unintentional) journeying whilst listening to music.

If I'm angry then I turn on music, I'm likely to cry. I tend to cry more to fast, angry songs then the sad ones. It's kind of embarassing because I'll be sniffling and trying to hold back the tears in a public place, and people are either like "What a freak" or "What's wrong!?"

Music is almost... I don't know, the soul of emotion. Does that make any sense?

For me, it can make me feel so strongly. Some songs make me cry, some make me laugh. Some help me vent if I'm angry. But it's the ones that make me cry that are most valuable to me. It's not always because I'm sad that I cry; for instance, "Simon" by Lifehouse always makes me cry, but these words: Don't believe the lies that they have taught to you, yeah not one word was true, you're alright, you're alright, you're alright! are the reason why. They're not sad, they're uplifting. But it makes me cry because I identify with them so much, and so often I just need to hear the words you're alright.

Music is such a huge part of my being. It flows through my veins, giving me heightened life and feeling. Sometimes it can be the most wonderful thing in the world. It can life you up when you're down, or help you to work out your feelings.

Yes, I cry when I hear some music.

Not only does music make people cry, it cries itself sometimes. Especially violin, cello, and oboe.

Music is very emotional, in my opinion. I don't normally go so far as to cry from just hearing a song, but I do get rather sad. Or I get really tense, or angry, etc.

I never really thought that Cello music cries, Nightingale....I've played it for a while, but it does sound a little different when you are the one who's making the music.

i definitely agree with the nightingale about the oboe crying, although i'd nver thought of it that way myself before. i've been trying to figure out for ages why i love that instrument so much, and now i know. thanks.

i deffinetly think music is very emotional. music has a mood of its own, expecially intremental and it also brings out your mood.

when im mad or sad or in a good mood. i listen to music that reflects that.idk why but it just seems to help, especially if im sad. i guess its cuz if i really need to i can cry and after i just somehow feel better. its weird

but music really helps me express my emotions.

I don't see how music can't be emotional.

Honestly what is the point of music if it isn't passionate and emotional. Music is not supposed to be mechanical.

Last year at a solo and ensemble festival, I started crying while I was playing a song. The Swan is to beatiful to emotionally disregard.

I think people who don't sing or play an instrument cannot fully understand music.
