So yeah, what songs/pieces have you been learning/practicing lately?

Well for me:

Violin has been focussed on about 4 pieces for my music AS recital coming up in a few weeks. I'm playing a grade 5 (I think) piece called Czardas which is a sort of Hungarian dance, 2 ensembles and another piece who's title got cut off by the photocopier :confused2: To be honest I'm really beginning to panic about all that... (though yesterday I bought the dress I get to wear for the recital and even though I'm not into wearing dresses, its verrry purdy :) )

But anyway, guitar has been more fun :-D Lately I've been playing Where Dead Angels Lie- Dissection, the lead part for Mirror Mirror- Blind Guardian, Demon of the Fall- Opeth, This Love- Pantera and I've recently started Godhead's Lament- Opeth :)

Anyway what about all of you?

I play the recorder and I'm playing lots of different pieces at the moment, because two other people and me are gpnna play at a party in about 3 months and we're currently selecting the pieces we're gonna practise.

i don't get to play my flute very often anymore because there isn't a practice room in my halls of residence, but when i do play i generally start with some of my classical stuff - faure's morceau de concours, mozart's flute and harp concerto, and rutter's suite antique are particular favourites - then finish with some irish folk music. i find it's better to leave the folk music til later because it's so fast my fingers need to be really warmed up to play it.

I'm not all that advanced at piano, but can pull my way along a bit...I'm playing Jon Schmidt's Tribute...the BBC Narnia theme...those sorts of easyish, prettyish things.

I'm playing a lot of grade 8 Royal Conservatory music at the moment. I think one of them is a Little Prelude by Bach; Nocturne in B flat by John Fields; and I'm learning If I Didn't Have You from Monsters Inc, the horrible difficult swing-beat jazz version. I like it, though.

Piano! I have exams coming up...

My favorite songs to play for fun are "Rohan", obviously by Howard Shore, and "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton.

Piano... with recital looming in April. Someone shoot me. I'm playing Clementi at the moment and I've discovered that I actually like this guy's music. Not very high leveled, just free-spirited and fast. My fingers have been spazzing ever since that last sonatina in C...

I love Clementi! He doesn't have any grade 8 pieces in the repertoire, which is disappointing, but I've played a lot of him in the last three years or so. Beethoven has some awesome sonatas, too.

My "senior recital" is Saturday *screams and hides*, and I've 10 pieces ready for it. I'm too lazy to list them all right now. lol I like Clementi too-I've got his Sonatina in G memorized-fun to play!

I have Solo & Ensamble coming up and a piano competition called Auditions (though we're not auditioning for anything :P).

I'm playing a class A (that's the highest/hardest level in Solo & Ensamble) piece by Chopin called "Valse" (Opus 69, No. 1 in A flat Major). I'm also playing a piece by Wilhelm Friedemann Back calld "Allegro" (doesn't have the Opus number in my book =/) and a piece by Gillock called "Sea Scape". The last two are easier, but they're memorized and the first piece is quite challenging, so I need some easier pieces :P

^I love Chopin's music. I've only learned 1 or 2 songs of his so far, but I definitly want to learn more! I'm semi-working on "Raindrop", Prelude #15 in D Minor. I printed it out offline, and I play around on it every now and then.

I agree, Chopin's music is very beautiful :) This is the first piece I've played by him, but I hope to play more!

I am playing a classical finger-picking guitar piece right now. It doesn't really have a name... it's just called "Study" (how creative! :teehee: )

Ahh, yes, Vivaldi.
I'm playing some Vivaldi concerto. It's fun. :-D
