Have you ever stumbled upon a song where the melody sounds very similar or almost identical to another song? I'm sure you have. Sometimes you wonder whether it's a direct rip-off or whether the artist/band in question had no idea that there was already a similar song out there. Feel free to share the identical or similar songs you have found so we all can make the comparison! My latest discovery was quite shocking as it's almost uncannily identical. The first song was released in 1991. The "rip-off" song in 2001. I love both of the songs and both of the artist/band behind them so I hope for their sake that they didn't intentionally pinch the original melody. The original: "The Lady Of Shalott" - Loreena McKennitt (1991) Click to Listen or Click to Listen The déjà vu: "In Perfect Harmony" - Within Temptation (2001) Click to Listen or Click to Listen I edited and made samples of the parts of the two songs that sound similar in case you wonder why it sounds a bit... cut... here and there It's not very often I've found a song where both the verse and the chorus are practically identical to another, it's usually only a few notes here and there - not almost a whole song like in this case. Again, we're not talking lyrics or beats now. We're talking tunes and melodies! |

There's a guy who's made videos that have been posted on YouTube which feature loads of comparisons. But I'll be d@amned if I can find them. |
