So, I was wondering about this...how many of you listen to music in a foreign language? You know, one that's not your native language. I, personally, love listening to music in a language that's not English. I listen to a lot of Japanese music, but thaaaat's because of ahem I have all of the vocal original Japanese Sailor Moon songs that I listen to all the time *obsessed* I also like music in Spanish, which I have a habit of trying to translate as I listen (that never goes over too well), and music in Gaelic. I've also dabbled in French, German, Korean, Finnish, and Romanian (you can all thank Numa Numa for that.) |

Oo most of the music I listen to is Finnish if not English... and various other Scandinavian languages. Of course I have to search for the translations, but it's all good... Finnish is such a beautiful language. I listen to some music in Gaelic too... more Irish than Scottish though. Btw, it's actually "Dragostea Din Tei" not "Numa Numa"  (I have a classmate who likes O-Zone...  )

Oh, I know that, it's just easier to say "Numa Numa" because that's what it's usually known as

Yeah... I first found it out by that guy who butchered the poor song by making an awful video of himself lip synching it with a horrible face.

I love world music, I often listen to the World Music channel on XM radio when I have a chance. So I get lots of exposure to various languages and styles of music. However, I listen to a lot of music in Arabic, actually, the majority of music I listen to is in Arabic. It has been for a very long time, in fact, I grew up with it....Hmmm.... As well, I listen to a lot of music in Gaelic, after all, I am a bagpiper, so I have to listen to Irish and Scottish music. |

^^Ha ha ha ha! Sida and teh Arabic music! FWEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! *thinks of MUN and rockin' out to my Arabic CD and Sida translating ... sort of  *
WELL, I grew up with a lot of exposure to totally random music. Many thanks to NPR. XD And my hometown being the funny hippie liberal place that it is. My first ever exposure was probably Native American music. I LOVE that kind of music. 
I listen to a lot of African music too. Arabic and Gaelic are quite popular with me too. French gets in there once in a while. Then it tapers off ... but I listen to TONS of worldly music. My music collection goes like this: soundtracks then world music. XD

HOW did I forget to say that I LOVE to listen to Spanish??? 
WOW! As I've taken spanish for like ... half of my life. XD Spanish music, whether traditional or not, I LOVE! A massive part of my music collection on iTunes is dedicated to music in Spanish.
The Buena Vista Social Club is probably my favourite band that sings in Spanish. YAY! for old Cubans rocking out.

 Yeah, I wanted to say about the same as you.. just that I'm not Dutch, but German. But apart from music in English I also like to listen to music in Spanish a lot. I really love the language |

Gaelic/Celtic music... some Spanish when I'm flipping through the radio stations and pass a Mexican station (there's a few around here, lol). I also like listening to French music, because I can pick out some of the words, lol. Hebrew is interesting to listen to, also. Oh, and Italian! |

Good music is good music to me, it doesn't matter wether it's in English, Japanese, German, Finnish, Swedish ect ect ect. |

*nodnod* Yup, English not my native language either, so listen to a lot of that... of course Spanish/Latinamerican since I'm in Spain and uhh... I love French...beautiful language.. Hmm.. and I've got some songs in German, and Swedish too.. and Finnish.. Like Phoenix, for me the language doesn't matter that much...

Oh my goodness! I totally forgot the Native American Music! One of the first cds I owned growing up was Powwow songs for kids. The ironic thing is that we bought the cd in Chicago but the group was from Montana *reminisces about going to powwows when little*
Dude! I was watching LinkTV's World Music Videos, they had an awesome band from Mali on there.....and another from Kenya...Totally rad. I can't believe I just used rad....too many people at work use it....too much work....ahhhhh! *runs away* |

Technically, songs in English would be foreign language songs to me
I LOVE listening to foreign language music. Music is a universal language so to me it doesn't matter if a song is in English, Faroese, Hebrew or Magyar. If the melody is good that's all that matters. I'm also a lifelong die hard Eurovision Song Contest fan so I'm just so used to hearing music in all these different languages since childhood. |

I honestly have to credit Josh Groban with getting me to listen to music in other languages...seeing as most of his stuff is in Italian or Spanish, when it's not English. I enjoy random French songs (the only rap i have is by a certain MC Solaar) played by my french teacher in high school. to digress, she was really cool. every month or so, she'd play a current or old song in French, and had us learn the lyrics. For example, Pascal Obispo, Alizee, MC Solaar, KYO,....and a song about Vercingetorix from ican'trememberwho...anywho, yeah.

I've heard some Italian (Josh Groban) and I love Hebrew..but my favorite is Gaelic!I love Celtic music like Celtic Woman,Silly Wizard,Dougie MacLean,ect.
